Overview

Develop, implement, and execute the investigation program used by the Office of Internal Audit, ensuring the quality, integrity, and service delivery of the departments investigations both align with the standards promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors and garner appropriate conclusions related to potential fraud prevention and detection. Supervise team of auditors and data analysts and oversee the full case cycle (i.e,, from case intake, to planning and execution, to final report and disposition, which requires a detailed understanding of federal regulations and/or complex systems or processes (e.g. human subjects informed consent, biorepositories, FERPA, etc.) Monitor and report on status of remediation activities, consulting, and investigation projects for University leadership. Provide oversight and management of all investigations and special project requests. Oversee related analytic activities in support of Internal Audit cases and University risk assessment. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders (e.g., Controller, Human Resources, Office of General Counsel) to help identify relevant fraud risks and related analytics.

Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other related Finance field. and Relevant certification required (i.e. CPA or CIA or CFE or CISA).

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
10+ years of related experience, with significant prior experience in a public accounting firm, performing forensic accounting projects. Must include relevant project management experience in investigations, compliance, internal audit, and accounting and forensics analyses. Prior experience in an internal audit function that operated in accordance with the standards promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years Experience in higher education, healthcare and knowledge of research grant monitoring. Previous experience investigating white collar crimes, diversion, embezzlement, and other financial related misconduct.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills, including forensic analysis. Proven leadership and management skills, including the ability to influence and persuade others where appropriate. Must be team-oriented with a collaborative style and possess critical thinking and the ability to influence others.
