The University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks a time-based artist and/or filmmaker to join the School of Art and Cinema Studies faculty. We seek applicants whose creative work is grounded in production of one or more of the following: video art, animation, sound art, cinema, or other time-based art forms. Our ideal applicant will teach production courses, including introduction to digital cinema/video, video and sound editing, and/or advanced courses in one or more of the individual's areas of expertise – including, but not limited to: narrative, experimental, sound art, animation, non-fiction, editing/post-production, cinematography, episodic storytelling, etc.

Salary is $45,000, plus health and retirement benefits. Teaching load is 3 courses per semester. No committee work or student advising is required.
The selected individual will join the dynamic, internationally recognized artists, filmmakers, scholars, and historians that serve as faculty members in the School of Art and Cinema Studies. Required qualifications: MFA or other terminal degree. Demonstration of extraordinary professional achievement may be considered in lieu of terminal degree. Applicants must demonstrate an active creative practice through a record of exhibition, performance, film festivals, commercial distribution, other curated venues (e.g., museums, cinematheques, etc.), or through other creative activities.
Preferred qualifications: Applicants should be conversant in issues of aesthetics and theories related to their field and demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching at the college level.
