The University of Southern California seeks a part time Resource Employee to work at USC Libraries in the Technical Services & Collection Development (TS&CD) department. TS&CD launched an email ticketing system in mid-2020 to assist with the increasing number of emails being sent to the department. The system currently being used is  SpringShare’s LibAnswers. This position will assist with leading a triage approach to the daily tickets and will be expected to review the new tickets each day, transfer them to others, apply macros and resolve select tickets. A proactive approach to this work will be most welcomed. Existing workflows can be changed and modified for better efficiency and improved communication. This person may also be asked to assist the Associate Dean, Technical Services & Collection Development with other projects including troubleshooting, activating ebooks, e-journals, and packages, doing clean-up projects, and other tasks as assigned. The candidate should be familiar with library operations and integrated library systems, ticketing systems, Microsoft Office, and have experience with technical projects. It would be preferred to have experience with ExLibris Alma and LibAnswers.

This resource employee can work both remotely or on site and working hours can be flexible.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Experience: 2 years

Minimum Field of Expertise: Thorough knowledge of general library operations, databases, library resources and collections, and online catalogs and other library tools. Ability to work under pressure while multi-tasking.

Preferred Education: Master’s degree (or in current graduate program) in library and information science or related field

Preferred Experience: Extensive knowledge of library operations and technical systems.

Preferred Field Expertise: ExLirbris Alma, LibAnswers, Project Management
