POSITION DETAILS

Queens College of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a premier higher education institution in New York City. 20,000

QC Learning Commons, an Academic Support unit for the college, aims to support and develop stronger and more confident

students grounded on best practices and research, in the context of a minority serving institution whose mission is to

prepare our highly diverse students to become leading citizens in an increasingly complex society.

Working with and reporting to the Director of QC Learning Commons, the STEM Learning Center Program Specialist will

collaborate to support overall administration, implementation, planning, directing and monitoring activities within the

Center.

In addition to the CUNY title overview of duties, tasks include but are not limited to the following:

?? Assist in developing, integrating, and managing new and existing STEM support services to help students achieve

their goals and leverage their strengths in STEM courses/fields.

?? Oversee peer mentoring, tutoring, workshops, and other programing operations for the STEM Learning Center.

?? Assist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with academic departments, faculty, and administration to

enhance STEM supports, working towards consolidating efforts, sharing resources and unifying goals.

?? Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate peer mentors, tutors and administrative support staff within the QC STEM

Learning Center.

?? Work collaboratively with other units within QC Learning Commons by participating in daily office operations,

attending meetings and creating/engaging in student success events.

?? Assist the Director with management of budgets allocated to the STEM Learning Center.

?? Produce evaluative reports assessing the effectiveness of services and initiatives, maintaining accurate data for

planning, reporting and program development.

?? Oversee a wide-range of communication activities to promote the Center: Manage the STEM Learning Center???s

website and creation/dissemination of print and digital materials to stakeholders across campus.

?? Work collaboratively with departments/offices, as well as with units within QC Learning Commons, to identify and

create various interventions with the goal of improving academic success and retention rates.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

?? Bachelor???s Degree in STEM related field

?? Four years of closely related experience in a diverse urban higher education setting

?? Supervisory experience??overseeing tutors and administrative support staff, as well as coordination of student activities, workshops and events

?? Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

?? Strong experience working with and ability to learn and integrate technology as needed. Examples of technological experience: Organizing, tracking and analyzing information within databases, effectively using various applications within the Microsoft Suite, creating and managing digital media such as websites and social platforms, etc.

• Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
• Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings
• Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management
• Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services
• Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures
• Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials
• May supervise office operations and/or department budget
• Performs related duties as assigned.
