Responsibilities This position is responsible for supporting clinical quality improvement projects, value-based care initiatives and utilization management by applying extensive knowledge of health data (via electronic medical records (EMR)) and quality analytics to improve financial and clinical quality outcomes. The incumbent will participate in the development and implementation of governance over data quality and works with senior leadership to provide reporting that supports various quality and performance measures. The position will monitor the timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness of encounter data for inclusion into databases.
The incumbent is an integral part of a developing team of analysts that support evolving regulatory, quality and performance objectives. This position will support Office of Clinical Affairs Division through data mining in EMR, data analytics through various data platforms, report writing and data visualization in Tableau. The data will be used to improve quality of care, analyze healthcare spending, and close care/data gaps for high-risk patients, and patients included in risk-based contracts and programs.
Required Qualifications - Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 3-years experience performing broad based health care analysis utilizing patient, provider, and claims data.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in presenting data points in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of HEDIS, NQF, California Pay for Performance metrics and their derivations.
- Proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Proficient in Tableau.
- Applied knowledge of advanced statistical and analytical techniques and demonstrated success in maintaining an abstraction schedule as well as performing data analysis of outcomes to identify trends and or opportunities for improvement.
- Proven project management success in organizing work effectively and meeting timeframes.
- Success in working well under pressure and to remain flexible in an environment with changing demands and priorities. Success in working as a member of a team and to proactively assist colleagues with their projects.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Business, Health Administration, Health Informatics, Public Health or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of experience in broad-based health care analytics, managed care payor or provider environment.
- Working knowledge of various analytics platforms e.g., Vizient and Optum Analytics.
- Proficient in working with electronic health records, specifically EPIC.
- Work experience in a large Academic Medical Center.
Special Requirements - This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
