Position Summary

Assists and/or guides knowledge transfer efforts, assesses instructional needs and trainee characteristics. Assists and/or guides the design, implementation and evaluation of self-paced online training, instructor-led workshops, presentations, instructional materials, lesson plans, participant guides, assessments of skills, learning transfer, and knowledge to ensure optimal use of instructional design research findings given available resources and established priorities. Encourages best practices in training design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation, including recommendations on content sequencing, balancing cognitive load, maintaining attention, and other specialized techniques. Supports other compliance communication efforts of the unit. Ensures training programs meet federal requirements for ADA and intellectual property regulations, as well as MSU policies.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Educational Systems development, Instructional Technology Systems, Instructional Science or a related educational programs development area, and/or a field related to the area of expertise; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the design, development and presentation of instructional programs using software or tools related to the educational programs being conducted; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience working with diverse audiences and the development of training for audiences with a broad or unknown range of backgrounds and abilities. Experience or formal training in two or more online course development software (Lectora, Articulate) and publishing to an LMS. Advanced skill and knowledge of applying University accessibility standards, course quality standards, and intellectual property laws and standards for education or training material. Skill in graphics and video editing software and successful publishing to streaming platforms such as Kaltura or YouTube. Technical support for learners and tier 2 trouble-shooting of course issues.   Experience authoring both synchronous and asynchronous content and activities for adult learners.  One to five years experience in the design, development, delivery, and documentation of training programs using software and tools related to course design, development, and evaluation, such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Trivantis, Articulate, TechSmith products, and/or Google Suite.  Advanced skills and knowledge in webinar delivery platforms such as Zoom.  Familiarity with MSU organizational units, processes, and/or information systems is desired.

Experience in developing promotional videos, software demonstration videos, how-to videos. Formal training in user support for online courses and/or learning management system. Experience or certification in developing and/or using TNAI or similar needs assessments.  Familiarity with any federal regulations governing training, particularly environmental health, occupational safety, laboratory safety, research integrity, export control, human subjects protection, research integrity, etc.
