We have an exciting opportunity for you to provide leadership and direction to develop and implement of all programs and activities for this grant funded, long-term, social change initiative to improve the public’s understanding of aging and the many contributions older people make in society. The Director leads Center programs, oversees communications, develops new programs, products and services, and cultivates new partnerships to advance the Center’s work and sustainability. And reports directly to the Executive Director, National Center to Reframe Aging. This is a multi-year, multifaceted project led by The Gerontological Society of America in collaboration with the Leaders of Aging Organizations. In this role you will direct the operational, developmental, administrative, and financial aspects of this major initiative.  Oversee planning and implementation of annual workplans, directs the communications strategy, includes launching a proactive communication program within the first year of the grant, such as, direct activities to develop and implement a robust communication strategy to proactively advance a more accurate and complete story of aging in America. Support the maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, clients, current philanthropic partners and prospective philanthropic partners.

You will direct activities to establish a national center for reframing aging as the recognized central hub for advancing communication strategies that improve the public’s understanding of aging. This includes directing staff, engaging national leaders in aging, developing new tools and products to teach framing, showcasing examples of best practices, and working with consultants to implement evaluation methods to assess progress of the initiative.

You will be responsible for activities to expand partnerships to grow the national center’s reach, deepen engagement, and work towards sustainability. This includes working with leadership team to cultivate new business partners, secure new philanthropic partners, direct technical assistance activities, develop and deliver new programs, products and training activities, and support dissemination and implementation of framing strategies.

Position requires a Master's degree preferably in communications and/or gerontology/aging studies with a minimum of five years of Healthcare or Aging association experience. 

Must have demonstrated collaborative management style. Experience in creating / managing networks. Experience in developing and managing budgets. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands and projects, and operationalize program goals. Results oriented. Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills including ability to effectively use social media. Able to take initiative, use sound judgment, and work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff and constituents.
