Research Assistant II, Marrow Donor Program - Georgetown University Medical Center

Job Overview

The Research Assistant II performs laboratory work - for example, DNA processing, various molecular testing - to support different laboratory activities in duties that include but are not limited to:

Testing and Processing

• Conducts molecular testing and/or DNA processing of samples
• Performs testing of HLA genes and/or other genetic markers
• Evaluates lab results
• Maintains and ensures accurate test records
• As needed, cross-trains in other lab sections

Lab Administration

• Performs required equipment and laboratory cleaning and maintenance.
• Delivers and restocks samples
• Complies with ASHI, HIPPA, Georgetown University and Program standards

Lab Maintenance

• Assists Project Manager with equipment maintenance/cleaning
• Assists Project Manager in unpacking and redistribution of equipment and supplies in labs
• Assists Project Manager with Biological waste disposal

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Lab Manager, the Research Assistant II interacts with other technicians and supervisor within their assigned laboratory, as well as with other lab sections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or health-related field
• 1 to2 years in a clinical lab setting preferred.
• Good computer and communication skills
• Ability to work with coworkers
• Attention to detail
