Job Duties:
This is a grant-funded position within the Division of Infectious Disease at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. This is a self-directed position that is responsible for a broad range of data management responsibilities. The Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) has received multi-year funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Ryan White funding 1) Underwrites current efforts in providing care to people living with HIV (PLWH); 2) Enables the division to offer patients an expanded array of specialty medical services (e.g. nutrition, substance abuse counseling, and dentistry) and social services (e.g. on site medical case managers, on site counseling, and assistance with transportation); and 3) Funds extensive community outreach efforts to bring individuals into care. The expanded medical and social work services require the development of systems to, determine patient eligibility, track referrals to other departments and agencies, calculate invoices to HRSA, provide the necessary continuous quality improvement data required by HRSA, and provide data for periodic reporting to HRSA. The IT analyst would be responsible for carrying out these functions. This is advanced work in providing consultation, support and/or training for technology-based systems. This employee may provide support of hardware, applications, operating systems, and networking. This function requires an in-depth understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support end-users and provide guidance to others.
This employee may participate in applications development, system integration and networking activities. This work requires very strong communication skills, an ability to effectively interact with a broad range of end-users and others, as well as an ability to use a variety of resources for providing support. The candidate at this level typically provides advanced support for a broad range of technologies, or in-depth support for a more narrowly-defined area of technology. These employees may be responsible for oversight of programs or projects.
Specific duties for this position are to:
- Co-chair quality management program – Provide data quality assurance checks and balances, generate reports to assist with the QI projects in the division.
- Plan and implement data management, analysis and quality assurance practices.
- Compile data to meet state and federal reporting requirements for Ryan White grants.
- Provide technical assistance as it relates to evaluating grants and work with staff to develop and implement process for reporting to Grantors.
- Serve as technical lead on IT related projects within the ID department/ some project management duties.
- Provide desktop support.
- Set up and install computers and printers for within department.
- Troubleshoot any pc issues.
- Web site management-maintain or provide support for the website for the region once that has been set up.
- Reconcile data between the Epic electronic health record (HER) and CAREWare and maintain data bridge updates.
- Reconcile data update QuantiFERON database, EHR and CAREWare Policy management.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures with management team as it relates to technical needs of department.
- Work with staff to determine their needs as it relates to patients and create reports and analyses to meet those needs.
- Train support staff on different quality improvement and data security techniques and to insure data integrity.
- Serves as CAREWare administrator, modify and add users, train users
- Maintain user access to departmental PirateDrive.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Master's degree and 1-2 years' experience; or a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience is required. At least 3 years of experience in database development and maintenance is required as is familiarity with networks, client server and operating systems.

The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest department in the School of Medicine. Members of the department participate in virtually every school activity.
The majority of the Department of Internal Medicine's educational, clinical and research activities take place within the context of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (BSOM) and Vidant Medical Center. The School of Medicine is composed of approximately 15 departments that function to educate medical students and graduate students. Vidant Medical Center is a 974-bed teaching hospital. It is a Level 1 Trauma Center, one of 6 in the state of North Carolina. The hospital is the primary hospital for the residents of 29 counties and serves as the only true tertiary care facility for the 1.5 million residents of the eastern third of the state.
The Department of Internal Medicine is a very complex organization composed of approximately 85 faculty and 125 staff employees. Specialty representation includes Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Internal Medicine, Hematology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonary Medicine and Rheumatology. Administration of the department must provide a management structure that coordinates and supports the activities of this large, complex, and heterogeneous organization.
