The Program on Geopolitics, Technology, and Governance (GTG) is dedicated to world-class scholarly and policy-oriented research on the political, legal, and economic implications of digital innovation and global competition. Our research explores how the convergence of risk factors such as cybersecurity, privacy and safety create complex interdependencies across risk domains, and how governments and businesses craft policy and manage these risks in a global context to optimize the benefits of digital innovation. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley at one of the world's greatest universities, GTG serves as a global hub of scholarly and policy-oriented debate. It also plays a vital role in education and training, as steward of the Cyber Policy and Security specialization in Stanford's Ford Dorsey Master's in International Policy. The program on Geopolitics, Technology and Governance (GTG) seeks a full-timeProgram Manager to provide management and coordination of administrative and operations-related functions for the program. The Program Manager will report to the Director of GTG and will work in collaboration with the Cyber Policy Center and its other programs. This role will serve as the program and administrative lead for GTG and will liaise with internal and external constituents to drive the projects, events, and communications that represent the core of GTG's mission and goals. A strong candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills, research and analysis experience, and an interest in the policy implications of digital innovation and global competition.
This recruitment is for a two (2) year fixed-term, benefits-eligible position which begins on the start date and may be renewable in the future based on programmatic need and funding availability. Oversee and administer research activities by evaluating academic programs, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and coordinating and implementing changes.
Collect and analyze data, create reports, review, and explain trends to determine program effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program.
Teach and/or assist in the teaching and administration of courses. Create and/or advise in the development of curriculum. Make recommendations for course improvements.
Write and edit content for proposals, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities under the general direction of PI. Assist with the development of research grants, (i.e., may suggest new funding opportunities, write portions of grants, and/or summarize data for grant support).
Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school and develop communications for internal and external constituencies. Organize and/or participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships, fundraising, training, and conferences. Lead workshops and facilitate meetings.
Monitor expenses, budgets, and finances of the program. Make recommendations on funding based on program spend.
May oversee and train student workers.
This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting, subject to operational need.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. Program administration and or research experience may be required.
