Jumpstart is part of a unit called the Community Engagement and Leadership Education (CELE) Center, which provides students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to contribute to thriving communities. Building authentic community and campus partnerships drive our work. CELE Center programs include Community-Engaged Learning, Dream Project, Husky Leadership Initiative, Jumpstart, Pipeline Project, Othello-UW Commons and Undergraduate Community Based Internships.
Jumpstart has an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, service-oriented, and student-centered individual to join our team as an Associate Site Manager.
The Jumpstart Associate Site Manager will support the Senior Site Manager with the day-to-day operations of the Jumpstart program at the University of Washington in order to ensure that Jumpstart Quality Standards and guidelines provided by Jumpstart are met and that the program meets Corporation for National Service (Americorps) grant requirements. The Associate Site Manager works in conjunction with Jumpstart’s national staff and Senior Site Manager to implement the Jumpstart program model. The Associate Site Manager will assist in the recruitment, training and support of 80 undergraduate college students serving as part-time AmeriCorps members to work with preschool children during the academic year.
Under the supervision of the Senior Site Manager for Jumpstart at UW the Associate Site Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Early Childhood Education and Training and College Student Support: support implementation of the Jumpstart program model, including early childhood best practices, through training, modeling, coaching and feedback. (50%)
Assist in the development, adaptation, and delivery of Jumpstart training series for Corps members: Fall Leadership Institute, Pre-Service training, In-Service training, and 2 all-day Saturday training
Embed racial equity goals in day-to-day practices and training
Observe Jumpstart sessions to monitor the quality of interactions between Corps members and children and the implementation of planned curriculum
Provide coaching and feedback to Corps members based on observations through meetings, leading Team Leader Meetings, and quarterly reviews
Observe and support Curriculum Planning Meetings to monitor the quality of team collaboration, meeting facilitation and the design of curriculum to be used in Jumpstart Sessions
Ensure the site is meeting the requirements of the Jumpstart Quality Standards
Provide professional development resources and advising to undergraduates
Support family engagement efforts
Program Management Support: Assist in the management of the Jumpstart program on campus, including recruitment and retention of participants, and compliance with program and administration standards. (25%)
Support the recruitment, interviewing and selection of all Corps members for sites
Support Corps members in the completion of expected AmeriCorps hour requirements, when applicable
Provide Corps members and Team Leaders with systematic supervision and support, consistent and responsive management, and clear ongoing communication
Assist in the management of Corps member files to Corporation for National and Community Service and/or Grantee specifications
Campus and Community Partnerships: Cultivate and inspire a commitment from Jumpstart stakeholders to the population the program serves. (10%)
Support in building and managing high quality Preschool Program Partner relationships
Participate in program partner visits
Contribute to efforts to help advance the mission of the Community Engagement and Leadership Education (CELE) Center
Promote the Jumpstart brand by engaging in local media and public relations activities, including maintaining and updating site web page
Participate in relevant departmental meetings and events, including Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) and Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity (EXPD) staff meetings
Deliver preschool education kits and other curriculum materials to preschool sites as needed (typically quarterly)
Jumpstart National Network Responsibilities: Participate in Jumpstart National Network Responsibilities and Campus Specific Responsibilities. (10%)
Participate in bi-monthly meetings with Jumpstart national staff via conference and calls
Contribute to Jumpstart National Network through sharing of ideas, providing feedback, and identifying areas of need
Support engagement with National and Regional stakeholders by assisting in site visits and engaging Corps members in events
Stay up-to-date on Jumpstart National events and requirements by regularly reviewing information on Jumpstart Intranet
Attend annual Affiliate Site Retreats in California or on virtual platforms
Contribute to the functioning of the CELE Center and Undergraduate Academic Affairs (5%)
Actively collaborate with other CELE programs to advance the goals of the Center
Serve on UAA and campus committees as needed

2 years of experience in early childhood settings, child development, student services, or support programs.
Strong organizational, management and leadership abilities

Demonstrated ability to use basic and some advanced functions of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) the Internet and web-based forms
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with university staff and the general community

Ability and willingness to travel to assigned locations/sites as necessary
Prior experience/interest in social justice or diversity, equity, and inclusion work
Experience and comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or higher education
2-4 years of experience working with children 3-5 years old
Prior experience in managing others; ability to provide verbal and written feedback
Ability to comprehend and manage basic fiscal matters such as budgets
Experience working in urban environments
