Detailed Job Description The College of Art and Design is pleased to announce a hiring opportunity within its Operations team and invites qualified individuals to apply for the School of Film and Animation (SOFA) Facilities Coordinator position. This full-time, hourly position reports directly to the SOFA Operations Manager. Overall responsibilities include managing the daily SOFA operations of the facilities consisting of rental equipment inventory checkout and reservation system, computer labs, studios and related specialty spaces, along with managing a student staff of 30. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in production technologies, 2d/3d and stop-motion animation, VR/AR, screening and exhibition resources, and related specialty workstations. A capable service technician with a strong analytical troubleshooting skillset is preferred. Excellent communication and collaborative skills are also desirable.
Manage and monitor large-scale equipment loan operation and associated checkout database that primarily supports the School of Film and Animation.
Oversee and manage daily operation of all SOFA facilities. This includes studios, computer labs, theaters, post-production, color correction, narration, foley, transfer, VR/AR, and audio control, downshooting, stop-motion workstations, set shop and storage and grip cage.
Shared direct supervision and management of approximately 30 student employees. Includes hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and time card maintenance and approval (Kronos).
Directly responsible for management and maintenance of all SOFA equipment. To include calibrations, troubleshooting, evaluating and confirming proper operation. Completing preventative maintenance and servicing on tripods, lighting and grip, video and audio equipment, film cameras, lenses, microphones, animation resources and workstations.
Must have broad knowledge and understanding of various post-production, audio editing and animation software.
Advanced mechanical aptitude to repair, build and configure custom production packages and studio support gear.
Experienced with sound stage management, electrical distribution, rigging and grip.
Primarily a day-shift position; evening and Saturday support is occasionally required.
A vital member of a larger Operations team supporting the College of Art and Design. Teamwork and collaboration are essential to overall success.

Required Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in technology related field
3-5 years in servicing motion picture film and digital cameras, audio recorders, data storage arrays, microphones, tripods, location and stage lighting fixtures/support, dollies, displays, and projectors,
3-5 years in technology and rental operations management.
3-5 years experience in IT related field. (system administrator, desktop support, networking, programming or similar)
3-5 years experience in project management, coordinating capital projects, resources and materials in the content creation and exhibition industry.
3-5 years experience providing exceptional service and support to clients, content creators, visual artists and researchers.
Strong working knowledge in MacOS, Linux and/or Windows, workstation configuration, administration, maintenance, and support in wide scale media production environments.
Extensive engineering background in technology integration, calibration, servicing, maintaining A/V resources, analog, digital and sound acquisition, grip, lighting, studio, post-post production, animation; traditional, 2D/3D, VR/AR and stop-motion, screening and exhibition specialty spaces, in reverence to established industry standards and practices.
Extensive experience with sound stage management, including electrical distribution and rigging.
Strong working knowledge utilizing commercial and proprietary developed creative software and peripheral hardware to optimally configure specialty media-based workstations/systems.
Strong analytical troubleshooting skillset to implement varied problem-solving practices until culprit identification and effective resolution.
Ability to collaborate with all stakeholders to envision and implement SOFAs evolving technology requirements supporting curriculum, research, scholarly work. This includes all aspects of engineering, design, deployment, configuration, maintenance, life cycle replacement, documentation, and conformance with institute agency, industry standards and practices, and external criteria as necessary. Expected to liaise regularly with University domain experts from ITS, CAD IT, MAGIC, National Technical Institute for the Deaf and Information Sciences, and any other relevant academic unit in a shared support model.
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service to all Center & University faculty, staff, students, and industry partners.
Ability to collaborate with staff, affiliates, and students for requirements gathering, needs analysis, proof-of-concept testing, and production deployment of current and experimental software and custom hardware applications and systems.
Strong working knowledge with infrastructure related to a media production, sound stage, including electrical, grip, VR/AR, data and physical storage, networking, acoustics, A/V, displays and projectors.
Advanced mechanical aptitude to build and configure custom production packages, studio support gear, repair tripods, workstations/systems, complete modifications, and service film and digital equipment.
Ability to manage student employees engaged in technical support, rental operations and special projects development.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Administration or a related field.
Must be able to read, understand, and comply with documentation specifications for site books, infrastructure documentation, compliance documentation, and other written forms of documentation.
Ability to collaborate & execute with vendors for product exploration, product analysis, and product procurement.
IT/Desktop support, maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
Understanding of basic networking hardware, protocols and concepts (DHCP, DNS, WiFi, etc.)
