As the only designated Level I adult and pediatric trauma and verified burn center in the state of Washington, Harborview serves as the regional trauma and burn referral center for Alaska, Montana and Idaho and the disaster preparedness and disaster control hospital for Seattle and King County.

Advanced diagnostic imaging, specialized clinical expertise Radiology Services at Harborview Medical Center offers a full complement of radiology tests and imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine and interventional radiology (angiography). Many modalities have same-day and next-day availability.
All of UW Medicine’s radiologists are board-certified and sub-specialized in a variety of areas such as neuroradiology, body radiology, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, chest radiology and more. Imaging findings are integrated with all clinical data to generate comprehensive and actionable patient assessments.
HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER – RADIOLOGY has an outstanding opportunity for a PART-TIME, 80% FTE, day shift RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGISTs. Under the direction of the Radiology Supervisor, Lead Technologist, Radiologist, or other Physician, this individual will perform skilled radiographic procedures that assist in the diagnosis or treatment of patients. Additionally, the person in this role will provide the appropriate education to patients and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure and exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations relating to patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Standards of Daily Practice: - Performs diagnostic radiographic exams as assigned by Lead or Supervisor. Transferring and positioning patients as well as providing immobilization. Provide devices as required and select proper technical factors and operate radiographic equipment. - Under general supervision performs complex radiographic procedures such as, but not limited to the following: myelograms, discograms, complex orthopedic procedures in the OR, extensive radiography, and complex polytraumatized patients from the ED and ICU. - Is able to operate the following equipment/systems: Computed and Digital Radiography equipment, PACS, the Hospital Information System, and the Radiology Information System. Able to print and retrieve images. Can implement downtime procedures as needed. - Assists in the orientation of new staff, technologists, researchers, and students to the Radiology department. - Help maintain a clean and well-stocked working environment. - May be assigned Lead responsibilities in their absence or when requested. - Maintains adequate computer and/or written records using the Radiology Information System. - May be required to work on-call. - Assures appropriate utilization of Radiation Protection prescribed by safety standards is utilized. - Understand and adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals and described yearly by the Joint Commission.
This position involves working with patients from the following age groups: • Neonate, 1-28 days • Pre-teen to teen, 10-16 years • Infant, 29 days -1 year • Adult, 17-69 years • Toddler, 2-4 years • Geriatric, 70 years and above • Child, 5-9 years

Meets attendance standards and consistently completes timesheet requirements. 5. Ensures all relevant credentials are current. 6. Ensures mandatory certification competencies are completed within initial time frame. 7. Consistently wears identification badge as per hospital policy. 8. Consistently wears dosimeter and returns monthly to the QA coordinator for monitoring. 9. Is responsible for remaining current with information disseminated through email, voice mail, memos and posted notices.
Advocacy and Humanistic Care: 1. Treats all patients with respect and dignity. 2. Provides the appropriate education to patient and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure. 3. Exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations relating to patient care. 4. Provides radiation protection prescribed by safety standards for patients, self and other hospital personnel. 5. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights, and is familiar with all relevant HIPAA standards. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.
Communication and Team Building: 1. Proven interpersonal and communication skills required to promote positive relationships with patients, visitors, radiologists, and other medical center personnel. 2. Forms productive working relationships with co-workers. Communicates clearly, directly, and on a timely basis. 3. Safety/Response to Emergencies:
1. Understands and complies with all safety, fire, disaster, evacuation, and chemical safety procedure: review's departmental policy and procedure manual annually 2. Understands that they are considered “essential personal” during emergencies and inclement weather.
Quality Assessment and Improvement: 1. Reviews and QC own work and the work of students. 2. Participates in and supports quality assessment and improvement activities. 3. Participates in the Department QA and QC functions by assisting in the collection of data, and making recommendations as to problems and possible solutions.
Professional Development/Skills: 1. Demonstrates responsibility for own professional growth through pursuit of work-related experiences and educational opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS: - Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school and eligible for registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Registry completed before completion of probationary period OR - equivalent education/experience.
