Dept Marketing Statement Comprising diverse researchers from a variety of disciplines across academic divisions, the UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute leads UC Santa Cruz's efforts to unlock the world's genomic data and accelerate breakthroughs in health and evolutionary biology. Our platforms, technologies, and scientists unite global communities to create and deploy data-driven, life-saving treatments and innovative environmental and conservation efforts, while addressing the most fundamental societal and policy questions.
Applies advanced technical project management frameworks and methods to lead an effort to build a data sequencing hub and analysis system, and to support pathogen genomics bioinformatics and analysis for the Genomics Institute. This effort will benefit the California Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other public agencies as well as academic and industry partners. Determines methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. Manages projects of broad and diverse scope, size, impact, budget and / or project team size, with considerable impact to the organization.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Salary Information: Salary Range: $90,400 - $120,100/annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

Supervises staff; operates as a chief of staff for projects and personnel engaged in pathogen genomics related activities.
Applies advanced technical project management concepts with a full understanding of project management practices to build a data sequencing hub and analysis system, and support bioinformatics projects in furtherance of pathogen genomics data gathering, analysis and sharing. Provides analysis for highly complex, project-related issues.
Implements the project management process that will be used by the California Department of public Health to link the SARS-CoV-2 virus mutations to contact tracing, the CDC and other public agencies, academics and industry partners. Manages products and services involving diverse departmental or cross-functional teams. Initiates, designs and leads project proposals and reports.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Basic knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts.
Ability to assess campus, medical center or Office of the President needs for information technology products and design services to meet those needs.
Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.
