Secure funding for and perform original, quality research in plant-based food.
Participate in and encourage interdisciplinary research efforts when possible, and disseminate findings by publishing research in peer reviewed academic journals.
Evaluate critical plant-based food issues.

20% Leads efforts to provide in-depth, complex analyses as a specialist in one policy field. Researches and summarizes best practices in field. Collaborate in developing original plant-based food science-based research. Facilitate and co-author peer-reviewed articles related to plant-based foods.
20% Develops and advocates solutions to research programs, including developing and administering new programs. Contribute to research supporting curriculum development and oversee implementation for 1-2 courses annually related to the plant-based food space. Support the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology XLab initiatives by helping to oversee plant-based innovation programming and affiliated activities. Seek collaboration with UC Berkeley and UC-campus units on new curriculum programming (e.g. Professional Master's, summer programs, etc.) to continue UC Berkeley SCET Alt.Meat X-Lab's trajectory to be a leader in the plant-based education space.
20% Provides analyses for program funding and resources revenue generating projects working directly with internal and external constituents. Develops proposals and recommendations to guide and support a broader financial strategic direction for the research initiative, program and /or organizational unit. Pursues development opportunities to fund the Alt.Meat X-Lab.
20% Collaborates with partners to coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of new programs and processes. Makes high level contacts of a sensitive nature, internally and externally, requiring discretion and diplomacy in order to negotiate with or persuade officials to adopt the proposed solution or program / process recommendations. Guides and directs planning which may include senior management, faculty, and / or external constituencies. Develop relationships with industry partners to provide plant-based and technology innovation opportunities to the campus community (researchers, students, faculty, etc.) in the areas of: research, curriculum support, academic projects, startup ventures, internship and career opportunities, and more. Seek collaboration with other universities with plant-based research and curricula to expand the impact of Berkeley's leadership in the plant-based space. Seek collaborations with incubators/accelerators/venture capitalists, to help Berkeley start-up teams take their ideas to market.
20% Leads and directs a wide variety of projects and follows through with all levels of staff and individuals inside and outside the organization. May lead a team of lower level analytical, research and administrative staff and / or students. Help to oversee and supervise annual student research appointments.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
