The Evans School has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Academic Affairs & Curriculum Support Specialist. In this role, you will report directly to the Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning and work closely with colleagues in the Student Services, Human Resources, and Digital Strategies teams to accomplish assigned tasks. Faculty, staff, and students will look to you for guidance, support, and coordination of various policies and procedures related to faculty affairs, curriculum management, registration processes, and online learning tools.
This position coordinates the management of two key areas in the academic programs at the Evans School: academic affairs and curriculum development and implementation. The Academic Affairs & Curriculum Support Specialist regularly interact with a broad range of internal and external Evans School and UW community members on a variety of independent and collaborative tasks within a professional and academic setting. Academic Affairs: (50%)
•Manage process for hiring guest and affiliate faculty (community), postdoctoral scholars, visiting scholars, and other part-time academic appointments, in collaboration with HR Manager •Working with the Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning, support the onboarding and training for community-based instructors to support their understanding of UW and Evans School resources and the science of teaching and learning. •Coordinate their engagement with the Director of Technology Enhanced Learning; Communicate regularly with all instructors, including around deadlines for CANVAS creation, syllabi submission, and evaluations, and maintain faculty listservs/ SharePoint groups •Demonstrate expertise in relevant UW and Evans School academic and faculty policies and procedures •In collaboration with Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning and HR Manager, implement RA/TA assignments, onboarding and training •Host the Research Seminar Series in collaboration with faculty lead •Prepare and assemble required materials for faculty nominations for campus and national awards •Work with the Associate Dean to ensure implementation of the school’s equity and inclusion plan and other key mission-related strategies. Curriculum Development and Implementation (45%)
•Collaborate with program directors to explore academic programming needs and opportunities, including continuous quality improvement. Facilitate changes in curriculum to maximize program effectiveness and efficiency, assuring compliance with University policies •Harvest key learnings from the faculty Curriculum Committee to support curriculum modification, improvement and implementation; monitor these action items •Oversee and coordinate approval process for new courses, course revisions, and other program proposals, including gathering and preparing documentation in consultation with Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning and degree Directors •Take lead role in supporting the creation and maintenance of a two-year course plan, including drafting, reviewing, submitting, and updating the Evans School course schedule for submission to the UW Time Schedule on a quarterly basis •Work in partnership with the Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning, Assistant Dean of Students, Director for Student Affairs, and Program Coordinator to coordinate these actions: Oversee Evans School course evaluations (online) process, including ordering, planning communications to faculty and students, and maintaining records in coordination with Program Coordinator •Manage course enrollment caps and add code sheets in accordance with Evans School needs, registration priorities, and add code policies •Initiate collaborative process with the Director of Marketing & Communication to create, distribute, and promote targeted course- and program-related marketing across campus •Manage Evans School registration email account, responding to or redirecting emails as appropriate •Work with the Associate Dean on continuous quality improvement by facilitating collection of qualitative and quantitative data related to courses, curricular planning and scheduling from faculty, teaching assistants, current students, and recent graduates.
Other Responsibilities (5%)
•Contribute to various special projects, such as supporting data needed for School accreditation process •Attend meetings and trainings, including acting as assigned staff member role on the faculty Curriculum Committee, all-staff School meetings, and University trainings relevant to job duties •Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position oversees quarterly registration, which opens at 6:00am on selected dates throughout the academic year. As a result, early morning support on registration dates is expected during this time. Flexibility of schedule is a must.
•Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in higher education administrative or academic program management work •Experience working with different communication styles •Experience handling confidential and sensitive information •Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team to meet established deadlines •Proven customer support experience •Effective communication, organization, and time management skills •Ability to use computers and software applications proficiently, including working knowledge of MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) •Experience with survey creation and implementation (e.g. Qualtrics, MSForms) •Demonstrated ability to respond with appropriate levels of urgency •Experience with online learning tools and platforms, including Canvas and Zoom
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
•Experience working with permanent and temporary faculty and academic human resources •Experience with course scheduling and databases •Experience working with curriculum management systems (e.g. Kuali) •Experience with start to finish project coordination, facilitation and/or management •Familiarity and experience with process improvement
