Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Systems Programmer/Administrator for the Office of Information Technology (OIT) -Enterprise Service Delivery. The Systems Programmer/Administrator is responsible for the design, delivery, and improvement of software applications relative to the client's needs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs a variety of complex technical programmatic functions including, but not limited to data integration, automation, and develop functional solutions to application workflows.
Creates custom data integrations for applications such as Event Management System (EMS), Handshake, 12Twenty, Blackboard LMS, and other applications.
Works with data from the Student Information System (SIS), in a DB View, formats the data, and uploads it to corresponding applications.
Delivers support to end users in the organization on the use of various types of software programs efficiently and effectively in fulfilling business objectives with applications such as Canvas, Docusign electronic forms, Pantheon content management, and workflow automation.
Participates in meetings and collaborates with management, project managers, staff, department units, and vendors in support of the Office of Information Technology goals and objectives.
Provides support as it relates to the functionality and operations of the aforementioned applications, using various tools and methodologies for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience with Blackboard Learning Management System, Enterprise level experience in software development lifecycle, and/or scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Regex, PowerShell.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with advanced Unix/Linux systems programming with advanced vi text editor.
Experience with databases and database tools such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and MySQL, Sql Runner.
Experience with Pantheon
Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask among projects.
Well organized and detail oriented
Demonstrated balance of hard skills such as programming, data analysis, scripting, and soft skills such as exhibiting a customer service mindset, professionalism within the immediate team and across department units.
Extensive experience in planning, programming, developing, implementing, and tuning data.
Ability to quickly master new programming frameworks.
Experience with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Certifications in Linux operating systems, databases/dba, and programming languages.
Experience in a university or research environment.
Experience working within ServiceNow IT Service Management Platform with knowledge of ITIL methodologies.
