The Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard (LISH) is looking for an energetic Research Associate (RA) to drive research activities. This hybrid position has both research and project coordination components. The ideal candidate will be familiar with business management, digital transformation, and firm use of advanced technologies, including AI. The nature of this position will entail interacting heavily with LISH's Director and Assistant Director and with partner companies.
The lab conducts interdisciplinary research that focuses on how firms are adopting AI. The team features Harvard faculty, researchers, program managers, and affiliates. The RA will work under the direct supervision of an Assistant Director and will collaborate with LISH faculty, staff, postdocs, and doctoral students on the creation, design, and implementation of research projects. LISH is looking for candidates with diverse backgrounds and/or new perspectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with basic research on select industries
Conduct research, both secondary and primary, for course materials or HBS case writing
Conduct literature reviews
Develop presentations based on research findings
Coordinate research tasks with the lab's academic partners and faculty both internally at Harvard (HBS, HMS, SEAS) and at other research institutions;
Collect research data and make deductions and conclusions to share with faculty and other researchers;
Write briefs and summaries of research projects for public circulation;
Manage various reviews of research protocols at HBS and HMS; including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), data use agreements (DUA), and data security application process with LISH researchers;
Participate in regular team and project meetings;
Organize and plan network events including logistics such as sourcing speakers and arranging travel;
Other as needed coordination tasks.

This is a full-time term appointment starting as soon as possible through June 30, 2022, with potential for reappointment. All Research Associate roles at HBS are structured as one-year term appointments. Preference for candidates willing to commit for two or more years.

2 years' experience in corporate or start-up environment preferred.
