The IT Manufacturing Business Analyst has broad responsibility for the support and continual improvement of business processes and systems that impact the Manufacturing and Service organizations. This includes Manufacturing, but also the Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety and Manufacturing Engineering functions. The Manufacturing BA will work closely with the business acting as the liaison for IT to manage and resolve system related issues that impact business operations. The Manufacturing BA has a customer service orientation and can relate highly complex technical issues to the business in simple non-technical terms. He/she is a process and system subject matter expert and ensures the successful delivery of initiatives through clear alignment of business requirements. The Manufacturing BA is responsible for ensuring high quality system delivery by facilitating a thoughtful quality control and testing process. This position must have significant experience in project management, requirements gathering and manufacturing ERP including processes surrounding Bill of Materials, job-based work orders (order dependent Bills of Material), backflushing, issuance of materials associated with job orders and inventory management. Goal will be to use industry–based ‘Best of Breed’ practices to continuously improve, optimize and streamline manufacturing processes.
Partners with business functions to define, determine, analyze, document and communicate the objectives, business requirements and priorities for information systems and solutions.
Works with application and technical experts on the solution design, implementation, support, maintenance and enhancement of the information systems.
Works with the business, to define, document and develop what constitutes business success for medium to large size initiatives within Manufacturing or Service.
Supports requirements management activities ensuring that the impact of change is well understood and approved by the appropriate stakeholders within the organization.
Performs requirements analysis to define the expectations of the users and creates high-quality requirements that are documented, actionable, measurable, testable, and traceable.
Develops and maintains effective and achievable project plans and reports status of projects and assignments to management on a regular basis.
Develops test plans and testing methodology to mitigate risks and tests the solution to ensure the solution meets functional and non-functional requirements within the organization.
Implements well documented processes and procedures including the SDLC to reduce defects and ensure maximum system uptime.
Identifies and supports deployment of permanent fixes that prevent future re-occurrences using best of breed industry solutions.
Conducts problem analysis as needed and escalates complex issues for additional analysis and resolution as appropriate.
Acts as a point of escalation for moderate to difficult problems.
Stays up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
Assists with maintaining program documentation, operations documentation, user guides and training manuals and may train employees on business applications as needed.
Successfully manages both internal and external relationships.
Comfortable in a challenger role that requires and has the ability to influence.
Develops positive and trusted relationships with both the business and other functions involved in downstream technical processes.
Ability to influence a broad mix of people in related skill bases and drive to consensus.
Performs other duties as assigned such as security and administration or making module configurations.
A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business or Information Technology.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience of business analysis experience with Manufacturing or related Operations areas.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience performing project management in IT.
Functional expertise in Manufacturing and Inventory.
Knowledge of ERP is a must (Infor Syteline preferable). Focus should be the modules used in manufacturing environment such as quality management, manufacturing systems and process control systems.
Understanding of SQL a plus.
Experience with Lean or Six Sigma is a plus.
Knowledge of BI tools (Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI) or similar BI tools is preferable.
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Strong analytical, attention to detail, organizational and core project management skills
Expertise in estimating the resource and development time from scoping to business deliverables.
Excellent problem solving skills and must be adept at multitasking at times of conflicting priorities.
Strong teamwork, communication and customer service skills.
Certification of CBAP™ is preferred
Certification of PMP is preferred
Telecommuting is allowed.
