Léman Manhattan Preparatory School is seeking a full-time Upper School Librarian for the 2021.22SY!

The Upper School Librarian role is responsible for providing the leadership and expertise necessary to offer library and research services for the school and ensure the maintenance of the library and its collections. The Librarian provides adequate services to ensure that materials are current and accessible and available to the Teachers, Students and Parents. The key goals of the job is to: Ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, ethical users of information; instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information and be part of the instructional program by collaborating with classroom teachers to design and implement units of instruction, assess student learning.
Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
Promote reading and a love of literature in the School community in general.
Develop and propose annual expense budget inclusive of all subscription databases, projected book expenditures, supplies, equipment and furnishings (manage library expenditures).
Uphold high standards for academic integrity and deliver instruction and materials that build awareness and adherence to the tenets of digital citizenship.
Guide departmental efforts toward the adoption and implementation of Information literacy skills scope & sequence as combined with tech skills scope & sequence.
Act as a liaison between the school and educational institutions (museums, archives, public libraries, university libraries), in aid of research support.
Facilitate the research process through individual 1:1 conferences with students.
As an instructional partner, the school librarian works with teachers and other educators to build and strengthen connections between student research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, information resources in a safe, flexible, and conducive to student learning environment.
The school librarian participates in the curriculum development process to design and teach engaging learning experiences that incorporate multiple literacies, foster critical thinking and promote a love reading.
Implement practices that allow for smooth and user-friendly access to print and information digital resources.
Collaborate with Educational Technology Coordinator to provide tech training workshops for students and faculty.
Create book displays and bulletin boards to promote library resources, reading, and learning.
Create book lists to promote extra-curricular reading including maintaining the personal reading list program.
Meet with English teachers to advise and support required reading for curricular and summer book selection.
The school librarian ensures equitable access and selects materials that represent diverse perspectives and needs of students, staff and Léman Community.
Update, maintain and promote use of upper school library PowerSchool Unified Classroom page, and manage Follett Destiny catalog.
Curate, organize, and promote use of digital information resources and database subscriptions.
Select, purchase, catalog and process all print, electronic books and periodicals for grades 6-12 (books are curated to correspond to curriculum, international mindedness, independent reading and student interests).
Research and attend professional development conferences/workshops in order to stay abreast of best practices and trends in school librarianship, and plan for shifts in library technology.
Serve as the IB Extended Essay (EE) Coordinator, collaborating with teacher supervisors of all Extended Essay Candidates.
Attendance at all necessary meetings.
