If so, the Clinical Operations and Business Analytics (COBA) team is looking for a Platform Administrator to build, maintain and support a robust BI Infrastructure that hosts institute's analytical solutions and continues to expand to support the ever increasing need of data and analytics.
Residing within the Department of Informatics & Analytics led by Chief Data and Analytics Officer, the Clinical Operations and Business Analytics (COBA) team is part of a strategic initiative to enable the transformation of data into insights and actionable information for the research, operational, clinical, and business departments across the Institute.
As Dana-Farber Cancer Institute continues to grow, the COBA team is expanding its capacity to empower its stakeholders through data and analytics to address key clinical, operational, and business questions. Reporting to the Program Manager, in the role of BI Platform Administrator, you will collaborate with Technical Lead, COBA Leads, analysts and developers across different content areas to help facilitate the development and dissemination of reports and dashboards at the institute. You will help build robust, high performing; high availability infrastructure that will enable our expanding stakeholders needs to make data-driven informed decisions. You will also be responsible for configuring and maintaining multi-environment Tableau Server infrastructure from user setup to performance tuning in a high availability environment.

Perform server activities such as backup/restore, product patching, change management including software, hardware upgrades, patches and responsible for ongoing maintenance, upgrades, monitoring performance issues, & optimization of resource consumption
Manage application users, groups, Workbooks and Projects, Database Views, Subscriptions, Custom Views, Data Sources, Data Connections, and integration with Active Directory
Publish reports, promote, and certify content, creating, modifying, or managing server task schedules, monitoring server activity and usage statistics to identify possible performance issues and enhancements
Design and implementation of Tableau Server data extracts from various sources and publish for reuse across projects and dashboard development enabling self-service analytics at scale
Collaborate closely with and operate within the overall Technical Architecture framework designed by the Technical Lead. Collaborate closely with and ensure alignment with COBA team and partners, including IT and Enterprise Data Warehouse team.
System Design (site creation, designing landing page, site restructuring, etc.), Content management and implementing security model
Incident management, showstopper resolution, root cause analysis and escalate to vendor per service agreements for Tableau Server and Desktop
Support - Create administrative dashboards from PostgreSQL DB and reports for tracking server and resource utilization. Conducting Office Hours, monitoring team's requests for server related questions.
Train and enable users, COBA teams/analysts, self-service users in large and small group formats
Tableau Licensing Administration and develop and document technical policies set up and controls, admin best practices, technical audits
Bachelor's degree required in a Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Informatics, or related field. Master's preferred.
3 + years of experience with BI Tool Administration and experience in Tableau scripting and ability to architect a stable Tableau solution guaranteed for high operational availability.
Practical knowledge in Tableau Server best practices: including administration, security, scheduling, folder/ project management, clustering
Proficiency at writing complex SQL queries on relational databases (SQL) and ability to pull data from various sources.
Strong understanding of Tableau architecture and administration, Tableau metadata tables with expertise in Tableau platform sizing, troubleshooting, tuning, & disaster recovery.
Should possess experience developing guidelines, templates, and best practices to assist other analysts and business partners with their own Tableau work.
Strong development skills in Tableau and data analytics and visualizations
Knowledge in BI tools including ETL, Data Warehousing, and databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
Superior interpersonal and communication skills and a history of effectively working and communicating with all levels of internal and external technical and non-technical staff.
Strong problem solving skills, must be a fast learner, comfortable learning new software tools and an analytical mindset and must have the ability to work independently with high attention to detail and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong sense of balance and ethics, ability to consistently represent the interests and mission of the DFCI and act on behalf of its current and future patients.
Work independently with little supervision while providing clearly documented status and progress of work activities and business issues that impact the department
