FINANCIAL COORDINATOR , Media Lab , to be responsible for the coordination of pre- and post-award financial functions. Will collaborate with other finance staff members on pre- and post-award administration and ensure that internal documentation and communication systems are maintained. Will also assist the senior financial officer with the evaluation and streamlining of finance team processes and the development/enhancement of tools and templates and train other team members in their use; contribute to the triage and management of requests via the finance team's Request Tracker (RT) queue; maintain the finance section of the Media Lab's website, including team information and updated resources for faculty and staff; create and implement systems for monitoring financial performance of grants; and track and help resolve accounting and reporting issues.
REQUIRED : a bachelor's degree, at least two years' financial experience, strong organizational skills, attention to detail/accuracy, intermediate-level proficiency with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, and discretion with confidential information. PREFERRED : project management skills, including ability to plan projects, coordinate team members, set timelines, and execute plans to meet team/DLC/Institute goals; financial research administration experience; general knowledge of and familiarity with standard federal regulations and major agency guidelines; experience using MIT financial systems (e.g., Buy2Pay, BrioQuery, Concur, FRC, Kuali Coeus, SAP/SAPgui, and Tableau); willingness to help build diversity, equity, and inclusion by promoting MIT and Media Lab values and contributing to a supportive environment; proactive, self-motivated, and flexible approach to daily tasks; and ability to prioritize work and communicate effectively and convey financial information to faculty and staff at all levels.
