The Vice President (VP) of Internal Audit Services provides leadership to the department to execute the right work in partnership with customers & other risk management units to add value to the organization. The VP enables Internal Audit Services to add value by: leading the development & execution of a risk-based audit plan that aligns with Kaiser Permanente strategic initiatives; knowing the business & associated risks such that they can develop & communication issues to add value; maintaining high level of engagement with customers & other risk management units & partnering in a solution-oriented manner; and, developing a high function results-oriented team.
Develop & maintain effective working relationships with program wide audit constituents including audit portfolio executives, business executives and the National Executive Team (NET) members.
Lead the development of audit strategies and plans for assigned portfolio of audits and identify synergies between portfolios and functions including, but not limited to:
Enterprise Business Services (includes Enterprise Shared Services and IT Operations)
Medical Service Agreement (MSA) / Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
Marketing, Sales, Service and Administration (MSSA)
Technology Risk Office
Understand KP’s business and care delivery operations and industry standards to perform thorough assessment of KP’s risk profile and engage in dialogue with senior leadership regarding risk exposure.
Partner with various levels of business and care delivery management to influence the development of effective corrective action plans to address identified control weaknesses and risks.
Summarize key issues for reporting to KFHP’s Audit and Compliance Committee.
Advise management on the status of corrective action plans to address identified control weaknesses & internal control policies/issues & applicability to business units.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with other risk management units including the National Compliance Organization (NCO), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Technology Risk Office (TRO) and the SOX Program Management Office.
Lead the department to meet short and long-term objectives, both tactical and strategic.
Provide leadership in talent management to build, develop, engage, and retain a diverse high performing team.
May present audit results to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the KFHP/HP Board of Directors.
Minimum twelve (12) years audit or related business experience.
Minimum ten (10) years of escalating managerial work-experience in a highly diversified and complex organization.
Bachelor’s degree required in finance or related field or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
Proficiency in MS-Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
Superior communication skills (both oral and written).
Demonstrates highest levels of ethics and integrity.
Demonstrated expertise in organizational development, project management, and strategy.
Up to 15% travel.
Master’s degree and/or certification preferred as follows:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
Prefer mix of management experience in non-audit (business) and internal audit roles
