Job Summary: Westat has an immediate opening in our Rockville office for a Social Media Analyst to support ongoing public health communications campaigns. The successful candidate will bring an analytical, thoughtful, and creative approach to developing social media content, monitoring social media activity, and evaluating social media strategies for clients.
Job Responsibilities: • Content development, management, and reporting. Write social media content for various public health topics. Use social media management tools to schedule content, monitor and respond to engagements, and compile social media reports. • Social media monitoring and analysis. Gather and analyze user engagement on client social media accounts. Monitor and evaluate social media results. Use data to inform future social media tactics. • Social listening. Work with teams on social listening requests, helping colleagues pinpoint data needs, developing search terms and parameters, analyzing results, iterating searches as needed, and providing final summaries of findings. • Partner social media tracking. Monitor social media activity on partner accounts. Propose strategic opportunities to engage with partners, influencers, and other relevant organizations. • Graphics coordination support. Coordinate with Senior Digital Media Manager and graphics team to design social media graphics. • Influencer outreach support. Coordinate with Senior Digital Media Manager to research influencers, identify outreach opportunities, and conduct outreach. • Social media buying support. Coordinate with Senior Director to implement, monitor, and report on social media advertising campaigns. • Data entry and analysis support. Coordinate with Research Associate to gather and analyze data for projects and reports. Enter data and verify the accuracy and validity of data entered in databases. • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree in public health, communications, or related field. • At least 2-4 years of experience. • Hands-on experience with social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with social media management tools, like Sprout Social, and social media monitoring and listening tools, like Meltwater. • Experience with social media ad buying.
Candidates should have a passion for social media and applying an analytical approach to creative solutions for clients, and the ability to identify target audience preferences and trends. Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills is essential along with an outstanding ability to think creatively, and identify and resolve problems. Attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task and work in a team environment is highly desirable.
