Description Baker Demonstration School, an independent progressive PK-8 school on Chicago’s North Shore, is seeking an exemplary librarian for the 2021-2022 school year. The Baker Librarian will support the library as a site for inquiry, creative exploration, building, designing and innovative programming. We place a high value on community and seek candidates who have excellent relational skills and who would thrive in a position centered around facilitating children’s inquiry and fostering their love of reading and learning. This 10 month position includes teaching 1-2 classes or electives in the candidate’s area of expertise. This position includes attendance at all professional development meetings, and additional responsibilities throughout the year that require attendance at evening and weekend events as well as some summer work in order to support the library’s opening for children at the start of the school year. Requirements * Experienced teacher or librarian in centering equity, inclusivity and cultural competency and supporting initiatives that align with the school’s mission and guiding principles * Exceptional teacher or librarian with demonstrated expertise in manifesting innovative pedagogies, curricular design and assessment of learning outcomes * Strong project management and project facilitation skills * Adaptable problem solver, responding to new challenges and emergent needs with a growth mindset and solution-oriented approach
