Merion Mercy Academy, an independent Catholic girls’ school outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, seeks a highly energetic, enthusiastic, strategic leader with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and time-management skills to serve as the Assistant Director of Development.
The Assistant Director of Development is a highly visible leader in the Merion Mercy community who advances a culture of philanthropy at Merion garnering support from alumni, parents, friends, foundations and other organizations to advance the priorities of the School. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven strategic thinker with initiative who can effectively engage all constituencies to connect them with the school’s mission and current academic and extracurricular programs.
The Assistant Director of Annual Giving leads the overall operation of the Annual Giving program of the school. Responsibilities include specific components of the direct mail program, growth of volunteer involvement, and data analysis. The Assistant Director should be proficient in fundraising CRM management (MMA uses Raiser’s Edge NXT) and oversees database processing of gifts, acknowledgment of all gifts via receipt and letter and email, and management of records related to daily gift processing and stewardship.
The Assistant Director of Development will:
Manage the School's direct mail and digital fundraising program: assist in the development of the annual theme and writing of appeals; supervise all components of each mailing; provide direction and support to both parent and alumnae volunteers in the Annual Giving solicitation process; oversee data management, list generation, and data manipulation and clean up.
Recruit gift chairs and committee members to ensure that reunion classes are personally solicited by either staff or volunteers in addition to direct mail, email and social media appeals, and ensure that personal solicitations are well coordinated between staff and volunteer outreach. Organize and implement class fundraising activities, volunteer contact assignments, provide training, monthly progress reports, and conduct conference calls on a regular basis to keep these volunteers informed and active in fundraising for their class.
Organize the planning and execution of the annual Day of Giving.
Perform ongoing analysis of fundraising progress to inform strategy and develop and execute benchmarking projects.
Develop strategies for increased donor retention and participation campaigns, including mail, phone, and personal solicitations.
Support and staff events run by the Development Office, including but not limited to Sip ‘n Bid, Reunion, Designer Bag Bingo to name a few.
