The Sponsored Project Specialist will support multiple research projects awarded by the National Institutes of Health and the US Department of Education in FPG's research division. The incumbent will be a member of a team that includes the Associate Director of Research (who is the Principal Investigator for the projects). The research projects are focused on children developing in adverse circumstances, examining social-emotional development, educational processes, and interventions to promote health management of chronic health conditions.
The Sponsored Project Specialist will prepare materials used by other researchers on the team for assessments in the field. This includes providing their own insight and experience in working with team members to develop and design the assessments. They will also coordinate with other investigators, data collectors, and study personnel on the organization of data collection from study subjects and managing the data collection process. They will also assist principal investigators (PIs) in pre- and post-award activities associated with sponsored proposal development.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Using knowledge of social research principles, the incumbent will assist the research office team with developing and designing various assessments to be used in the field by data collectors. The ability to assess the ongoing needs of the research project(s), including the ability to change deadlines, deploy new research protocols, and retrain data collectors if necessary. Write comprehensive reports of data collected and results of site visits, and share and explain reports with other research division team members and PIs. In coordination with FPG HR, create, post, and recruit for data collectors. Develop training materials for data collectors and train them on how to conduct assessments.
Daytime or overnight travel as needed or assigned. Employee needs strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, handle multiple projects and activities and know project management principles.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a business/administration field (such as finance, accounting, business administration, business, public health, or public administration) plus three years of related experience. Knowledge of government regulations, cost principles, and administrative requirements applicable to contracts and grants, including FAR, CFR, and other research compliance requirements (e.g., Export Control, Conflict of Interest, Human Subjects, or Ethics Training). Other preferred previous experience includes submitting proposals to major funding agencies, experience in research administration in a university or non-profit setting, experience in the financial management of multiple projects in the post-award phase, experience in contract negotiations, and experience in data tracking and report preparation. Experience in social sciences research and knowledge of database/statistics programs such as Excel, Access, SPSS, and SAS is also preferred.
