UW Facilities’ Transportation Services has an opportunity for a Temporary Technology Integration Project Specialist responsible for ensuring that technical and customer service standards are met for the integration of the UW U-PASS transit program with the transition of the regional transit fare system to the Next Generation ORCA* platform, called *One Regional Card for All.
The Technology Integration Project Specialist will lead project development, planning, and implementation for the transition of the U-PASS program to the Next Generation ORCA transit fare system. This person will work with external and internal partners to ensure a successful rollout of the U-PASS program on the new system platform launching 1st quarter of 2022, including: King County Metro, INIT, UW-IT, Student Fiscal Services, Human Resources, Husky Card Office and other campus transportation departments.
As a representative of UW Transportation Services, this person will manage project deliverables and timelines, provide operational and technical recommendations for system integrations in coordination with UW-IT, and develop and document processes. This person will also support UW Transportation Services on a related project associated with campus planning for the future interdependence of Husky Card and U-PASS. In addition, the person in this position will support and manage other Transportation Services system projects as needed.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and demonstrate experience in project management and developing and maintaining effective partnerships with customers and clients.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Project Management (50%)
•Produce and manage project plan, timelines and budgets. •Lead internal and external teams and collaborate on developing scope, processes and schedule to support the needs of project. •Monitor the work of transit agency partners and consultants during the project development and implementation phases to ensure conformance with project program and schedule; recommend final project acceptance. •Lead the ORCA integration team in developing and maintaining systems to document evolving technical features, issues, and solutions. Track and maintain log of technical issues and solutions. •Work closely with various organizations within the UW (e.g., UW-IT, Husky Card Office, Facilities, and others) as well as the UW Transportation Services staff to align the various systems involved.
Process Improvement and Documentation (20%)
•Develop written and online policies and procedures, and program implementation documentation for users. •Recommend improvements to the quality and service-orientation of program integration.
Stakeholder Engagement (15%)
•Participate on campus committees, advisory groups or teams as appropriate. •Lead presentations and meetings.
User Training (10%)
•Provide individual and group training, conduct workshops, and produce information presentations for new users and new employees who need to use the software program.
•Attend product training classes as necessary. •Other duties as required.
Education & Experience Required
•Bachelor's degree Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Information Technologies, or the equivalent, and 3 years of applicable experience.
•Experience as a project manager implementing one or more enterprise technology projects. •Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills; ability to work successfully with people at all levels throughout the organization and with a wide range of constituencies; ability to maintain and model composure in a fast-paced, dynamic customer service driven environment. •Ability to communicate technical information in a user-friendly manner (liaison between technicians, vendors and UW Transportation Services staff). •Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems; ability to function effectively within a complex regulatory environment; ability to develop and interpret policies and procedures. •Strong technical computer and database management skills. •Demonstrated computing and information systems knowledge and experience with SQL databases, spreadsheets, web services, and coding. •Demonstrated proficiency with standard productivity software include Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs/Apps, or equivalent. •Experience with project planning and collaboration tools like Trello, Jira, MS Teams, Zoom, Sharepoint.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
•Interest in learning the business processes of UW Transportation Services and utilizing technology to improve these processes. •Project management certification (PMP, CPM, CSM) •Transportation industry experience, working knowledge of local transit agencies and operations of Transportation Services. •Experience working in higher education or government. •Experience with T2/Flex and Salesforce. •Experience working with consultants.
