The cutaneous oncology /non invasive skin cancer imaging fellowship offers:
Involvement in a weekly multidisciplinary tumor board conference in diagnosing and managing patients with a wide array of skin cancers, including melanoma, advanced NMSC, cutaneous lymphomas, and other rare cutaneous neoplasms
Opportunities to investigate the diagnosis and plan the treatment of melanoma and non- melanoma skin cancers using dermoscopy, confocal microscopy and optical coherence tomography live in skin imaging
Skin cancer prevention, education and counseling
Performing total mucocutaneous examinations including minor surgical procedures and excisions
Monitoring high risk patients with dermoscopy, digital dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy
Histopathology of pigmented lesions, melanomas and complex cutaneous tumors
Extensive research opportunities, manuscript preparation and submission
Preparation of didactic lectures in skin cancer screening and early diagnosis for dermatology residents and OHSU medical students
Flexible opportunity to moonlight
The trainee will spend time approximately equally divided among the areas of dermoscopy, RCM and OCT (optional). In RCM and OCT, responsibilities will include protocol design for patient studies and occasional monitoring of studies for patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. The majority of the time will be spent performing the screening and interpreting clinical cases. Graded responsibility will be given over the year for the consultation service with clinicians. In addition, expectations for the number of cases prepared and read should increase over the year.
This position will be responsible for interacting with students and residents during daily activities within the Program. This includes delivering didactic lectures, participating in the Dermatology Morphology Weekly Conference and Translational Research Seminars, and participating in the translational research topics didactics and Dermatology Journal Club as requested. This position will participate in the publication and/or presentation of at least one research project during the one year fellowship.
Duration of this appointment and indicated salary may be changed or eliminated if a gift, grant, or contract fund supporting this position becomes unavailable.
Must have completed a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and at least one year of medical residency pertinent to the duties performed by this position
