As a Credit Risk Operations Lead, you'd be able to work on and solve some of the many interesting challenges we are facing, learn new ways of working, and build delightful high quality products for our customers. Job Description Reporting to the Head of Core Operations, the role holder is accountable for executing the strategic risk operations agenda to maximise client experience, identifying and creating areas of competitive advantage, highlighting and resolve trade-offs between competing priorities. Being responsible for the design, build and maintenance of risk operations systems & infrastructure capability to effectively deliver client outcomes. Ensure that the risk systems, capabilities and processes are fit for purpose and are implemented as per Group standards. Areas of operations coverage are as follows (not meant to be exhaustive): 1. Credit Initiation 2. Credit Bureau Management 3. Fraud Risk 4. Collections
Working with the Head of Core Operation to agree on priorities, and resolve issues around the operating model, systems and processes to ensure these are considered and prioritised into investment plans, remediation initiatives and any other process as appropriate.
In partnership with the rest of the COO team and other business heads to develop a platform consistent with the Bank's and business' strategic ambitions.
Working with the team to develop and execute a business aligned infrastructure strategy that meets clients' requirements. Play a key role in the annual strategy and budgeting processes.
Being responsible to deliver outcomes on standard metrics/scorecards, e.g. budgets, volumes, C/I ratio, cost and capital efficiency, productivity, accuracy, service levels, losses / lapses, issues, and the Operational Risk Framework ("ORF"). Continuously improve productivity and efficiency of risk operations, maintaining rigorous cost and investment discipline.
Prioritise business operating issues including the capability to deliver new products with control and efficiency on platforms which are consistent with core architecture. Oversee the prioritisation, design and management of significant change initiatives.
Accountable to drive a balance of alignment and automation, de-coupling especially minimizing dependencies that are blocking or slowing down client service through architectural changes, reviewing client journeys where appropriate.
Work closely with business heads to ensure strong controls, processes, governance, and risk management.
Work with the COO and risk teams to maintain rigorous cost and investment discipline across Operations. Ensure appropriate prioritisation of issues around risk, control, investment, people, projects, and change management.
Responsible for driving the agenda of standardisation, automation and hubbing of these areas.
Responsible for maintaining strong and appropriate control environment in Operations Process Ownership and maintaining operational risk tolerance in the areas of credit initiation process, fraud screening, business surveillance and periodic reviews.
Be the contact point for the Credit Bureau and other such agencies
Vendor Management for the risk systems Governance & Risk Management
Ensure there is a framework for effective management of operational risks across Operations and in compliance with applicable internal policies and external laws & regulations.
Responsible to minimize operational loss and audit failures to ensure appropriate focus on issues and resolutions.
Assist the COO and risk teams to ensure quality governance on infrastructure, data and operations matters.
Execute responsibilities as outlined in the Group Operational Risk Framework. (a) maintaining a strong and appropriate control environment (b) Restricting business if existing infrastructure and processes, capacity or capability are not fit to execute business within operational risk tolerance, regulatory standards or growth aspirations.
Accountable to own regulatory audit / inspections on Operations teams as well as offshore service centres through direct reports. Together with the Head of Core Operations, represent the bank as appropriate to regulators. Processes
Deliver the risk operations related projects
Maintain and update the credit decision and fraud monitoring systems to reflect the current risk policies
Monitor and ensure outsourced process are delivered as per the SLA and execute the governance requirements
Lead in delivering process excellence and digitization to reduce handoffs, reduce risk and improve client service.
Establish strong connectivity with the Programme Management Office, product owners and process universe owners to ensure that relevant operations issues, risks and priorities are channelled, discussed and addressed.
Work with business and teach teams to align across projects and priorities and the prioritisation plan Key Stakeholders o CRO o Functional Partners including T&I, Risk, Compliance, HR, Finance, Legal, Audit, etc. o Relevant outsourcing teams viz. GBS Our Ideal Candidate:
At least 10 years of experience in the Credit risk Operations and credit Decision systems
Should have delivered critical projects
Advanced level of knowledge and experience of the Bank's Control Framework and Governance Structure.
Strong innovative and creative mindset.
Business, Functions and organisational literacy.
Adept at critical evaluation of complex concepts.
Experience in supervising and monitoring 3rd party service providers and external vendors.
Robust written and verbal communication skills.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office - Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel a must.
