Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Instructional Technology Spec-Learning and Development Supervisor for the Institute for Families at the Rutgers School of Social Work. This position reports to the Manager, Learning & Development. The position provides support to several programs within the Institute, all educating professionals who serve families and children. This includes early childhood educators, frontline professionals, supervisory and caseload carrying staff working in child welfare, child support, early care and learning, and victim-serving workforces throughout the state. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing new curriculum design or development for both classroom and eLearning instruction, and designing or developing content for job aids, informational documentation, and marketing collateral.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Manages a professional staff of instructional designers and provides work direction to consultants and/or student assistants assigned to provide curriculum and administrative support.
Ensures adherence to identified instructional design processes and templates, building and supporting strong relationships with subject matter experts and stakeholders, and improving the quality of the learning experience through data analysis, action mapping, and innovation in learning products.
Collaborates with the project leads on using and incorporating instructional design principles and various technologies to improve the design or development of course content and training materials.
Works closely with the project team during kick-off meetings, and facilitate the transition of projects from the design team to the development team.
Collaborates with the CQI and Operations Supervisors to assist in product rollout. Guide task management for research assistants and consultants providing instructional design support.
Leads and facilitates focus groups and needs analyses.
Supports the facilitation of pilots and train-the-trainer sessions.
Leads debrief meetings of new courses.
Leads collaboration between instructional designers and evaluation team to ensure best practices are adhered to in product evaluation—including pre/posttests and satisfaction surveys.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years experience working within programs that provide education to adult learners.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Advanced computer literacy.
Ability to work collaboratively and professionally within a fast-paced team.
Strong manager of people, effective communicator, efficient project manager, and have a solid understanding of instructional technology methods and tools.
Ability to be detail oriented while independently managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and assignments.
Significant experience in design of educational products for adult learners.
Experience designing for innovation and technology in classroom and eLearning platforms.
Proficiency in one or more eLearning authoring tools—preferably Articulate Storyline.
Ability to design or develop learning objects that are compatible with specifications of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas and Moodle).
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Experience on a large-scale workforce development project.
Experience working with human service professionals and multiple organizational partners and stakeholders.
Regular use of a computer and expertise with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Teams.
Proficient in at least one course authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline 360 or Adobe Captivate.
Must be comfortable exploring and using additional instructional technology programs and apps.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
General office environment including light lifting and document preparation.
Travel to program sites and State offices throughout New Jersey is required.
The position will work from New Brunswick and Princeton.
