This position will specialize digital course materials and bookstore ecommerce, coordinate the faculty course material adoption process, and facilitate campus outreach, training, and communications for the Course Materials Division. This position will be an advocate of course material affordability as well as provide excellent customer service and communication.                                                                              Primary responsibilities include: assist with procurement and distribution of digital course materials; conduct the course materials adoption process including maintaining course material records in the database, research availability and pricing of textbooks, maintain the student course material list by term, and assist the Buyers; oversee and coordinate the timely processing of product pricing; deliver formal and informal digital skills training to academic coordinators, faculty and university departments; collaborate and contribute to marketing, events, and public relations for course materials; demonstrate through communications and presentations how technology and software programs enhance student learning outcomes and affordability; coordinate and oversee compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act; support course material industry changes and stay current with market trends and best practices; communicate with faculty, staff, and students on product deadlines, availability, and orders/requests; assist with the ordering and inventory of print course materials; assist with sales and product training to staff; assess and communicate with vendors regarding product shipments and receivables; assists in the new development and implementation of ecommerce system strategy that align with overall business; assists in the direction of the storeâs ecommerce department; assists with maintaining integrity of website content; assists with online technology to drive in-store and website acquisition, sales, conversion, and reporting; assists with website and data analytics and review key performance indicators s; provide customer service solutions through email, chat, and phone; collaborate and contribute on marketing; conduct bi-annual physical inventory; attend industry meetings and trainings to stay current on industry trends. The position will provide excellent customer service and during high intensity sales periods, will make quick decisions on how to change and use staff, handle customer issues, and/or move and adjust merchandise. This position will be responsible for supervising student employees and/or temporary employees.                              The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain thorough knowledge of the course materials industry and student affordability initiatives; demonstrate effective public relations and written/oral communication skills; form positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external customers; work independently as well as with a team; strong organizational and time management skills to handle a variety of duties simultaneously. Candidate must embrace appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions including strong technical skills in Microsoft Office, Oracle NetSuite, and other industry specific textbook management software. The Iowa State University Book Store is open 7 days a week, therefore duties of this position require the ability to work a rotating weekend schedule as Supervisor on Duty as well as a few late evenings during peak periods.
