Job Summary
The mission of Information and Technology is to create and support an information technology environment that enhances the ability of the UC Davis community to teach, do research and provide public service. In support of the University's mission, IT will deliver an infrastructure of technological services appropriate to the requirements of the campus community.
IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III provides design, planning and implementation activities to deliver Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and Wireless (LAN) for the entire UC Davis Health enterprise as it relates to Facilities Design & Construction, Planning, FIG, and IT Facilities projects. In response to institutional requirements, the IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III provides technological leadership and support for the cost- effective use of desktop, voice, and printing equipment, software, and networking requirements and equipment to include installation as part of the project support and implementations.
Under general direction, the IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III will provide administration level technical expertise and technical leadership in the areas of Wide Area and Local Area networking. Incumbent has a primary responsibility for Wide Area Network (WAN) projects and new/upgrade Local Area Network (LAN) projects in new/existing campus buildings. The IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III will oversee configuration, installation and support functions, including coordination of projects and workflow, decision making authority on large system design and high-level problem-solving pertaining to the WAN and LAN for all Facilities Design and Construction, Planning, FIG, and IT Facilities projects under IT Facilities/Implementations.
The IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III applies technical knowledge and leadership to an enterprise level Cisco network specializing in both WAN and LAN for the UC Davis Health Sacramento campus, PCN and partner networks. The IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III is responsible for the, implementation, troubleshooting and support of WAN and LAN routers. switches, and other network nodes and components deployed for Facilities Design and Construction, Planning and FIG projects. The IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III has independent responsibility for the implementation of highly complex network designs encompassing implementation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting set by the Unified Communications Engineering and Architecture teams. Additional responsibilities include assisting with general Facilities Design and Construction, Planning, FIG and IT Facilities projects for network and VOIP Services. This position is not an engineer or architect in data and voice networks, but will need to have the ability to administer basic voice and data services that are deployed in the field and require go live configuration changes as result of going live for a project. This position will support requirements for Facilities Design and Construction, Planning and FIG project efforts that impact the Enterprise WAN/LAN/Wireless services.
IT Implementations Comm and Network Technical Data Analyst III will report to the IT Facilities Implementation Supervisor. This position will be responsible for the implementation of all Facilities Design & Construction, Planning, FIG and IT Facilities projects in deploying voice and data network services, respond to issues in response to Facilities Design & Construction, Planning, FIG and IT Facilities Projects. This role will be involved in working closely with Unified Communications, Security, customers and IT Facilities Construction project managers to resolve a multitude of voice and data network performance and monitoring issues as result of Facilities projects.

REQUIRED
- 3-5 years' experience with large enterprise professional Cisco and network system architecture.
- 3-5 years' experience installing and maintaining an enterprise size data network technology architecture and design
- 3-5 years' experience Implementing WAN and LAN protocols including dynamic protocols (OSPF, etc) gateway protocols (BGP, EIGRP, etc) and backbone protocols.
- 3-5 years' experience with the standards, protocols, installation and maintenance procedures of Ethernet and Ethernet hardware.
- Network Professional (CCNP) or (CCNA) certification
- Experience with of various network hardware platforms, network related protocols and software including understanding of OSI layer 2 and 3 protocols at a basic level.
- Experience and problem-solving skills to quickly assess problems, evaluate options, make a decision and resolve problems
- Experience and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience supporting Network Engineers and Architects for construction projects.
- Ability to work within the strict deadlines to IT Facilities projects within the specific time and budget requirements.
- Must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and see problems through to resolution.
- Positive 'can do' and professional attitude. Fosters positive team relationships through respectful listening, flexibility and willingness to share knowledge.
- Strong leadership qualities to instruct and lead implementation team peers
PREFERRED
- Experience working on an implementation team supporting construction projects for large enterprise data networks and applications.
- Moderate Experience installing and maintaining a Cisco data networks.
- Experience working with LAN protocols including dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, etc.), gateway protocols (BGP, EIGRP, etc.), and backbone protocols.
- Experience using problem-solving skills and techniques to resolve unique issues and problems
- Experience gathering, organizing and analyze data in the completion of a variety of functional assignments
- Experience in communicating technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
- Experienced in interpreting manuals to configure hardware or identify the source of a problem and take corrective action
- Experience work independently and generate innovative solutions to problems
- Experience in understands the communications and network needs of the organization and applying the skills needed to address those needs Skills and experience needed to understand implications of work on other areas
- Experience managing projects and meeting critical deadlines
- Self-motivated person who can work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in documenting technical systems, procedures and developing work plans
Special requirements / Certifications:
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
Must be able to work varied hours (i.e., nights and weekends) and must be available for 24-hours a day for escalations on projects.
Must be able to lift up to 401bs.
