This position contributes to the Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team through a variety of photography, videography, design, and multimedia projects. The Multimedia Specialist focuses on telling the MICDS story in a compelling, beautiful, and interactive visual way, consistent with and enhancing the School’s reputation as an innovative, welcoming, and excellent educational institution. Successful candidates will be fluent in and passionate about graphic design, photojournalism, video production, and writing to support the School’s social media efforts, email communications, website, magazine, admission materials, and other publications.
Develop and execute all multimedia projects, including photos and videos for all School communication channels.
Develop and execute graphic design and communication pieces, such as admission brochures, advertisements, infographics, signage, and website design assets.
Manage multimedia and graphic design projects in a collaborative and timely manner, using the current MarComm project ticket system (Trello), or other project management tools as needed.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Admissions, Development, Business Office, Head of School’s Office, Technology, and other departments to ensure alignment and integration on projects.
Serve as the school photographer and/or videographer for important Alumni and Development events, schoolwide community needs, special portraits, and athletic (Varsity and JV) team and student-athlete photos.
Lead MarComm efforts in live streaming important school events, including coordinating with vendors and team to share out via social media and other channels.
Serve as a secondary website content manager, with the ability to create, design, and distribute dynamic email communications via the School’s website communication tools.
Manage, create, and execute displays on flat-screen TVs throughout the school campus.
Strategize and work directly with print vendors to ensure cost-effective, accurate, timely, and high-quality print materials.
Manage large format print jobs for faculty and staff with in-house printer.
Contribute to the storytelling - visually and in writing and editing - through school publications with a thought leadership approach - weekly e-newsletters, school magazine published 3x per year, and other publications.
Performs administrative office duties as needed, for example, tracking vendor bills, filing expense reports, and organizing print and digital files.
Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the School’s discretion.
Bachelor’s degree in Media Communications, Communications, Design or related field.
Professional experience in a multimedia design role required.
Strong working knowledge of graphic design and desktop publishing software, i.e. Adobe Creative Suite.
Proficiency in photography, photo retouching, color correction, manipulation, and implementing quality photo standards in publications and on the web. Green screen experience a plus.
Proficiency using non-linear video post-production software, titles, effects, and music to tell a story. Knowledge of HD video production and DSLR cameras required.
Demonstrated background in digital photography and videography.
General knowledge of social media, email marketing, website design, advertising, and magazine production.
Eager and willing to learn and stay up-to-date on the latest multimedia, design, photography, and videography trends and tools, and consider how they translate into workable solutions for MICDS.
Strong written and oral communication skills. Interest and ability to develop content and write copy for social media, email, website, and magazine.
