The Instructional Designer provides course re/design and development support, consultation in effective online and hybrid pedagogy, and faculty training. The Instructional Designer is responsible for utilizing adult learning theory to support learner-centered hybrid and online courses, using assessment strategies to evaluate student learning, and using instructional technology to promote best practices in teaching and learning. The incumbent will assist with accreditation requirements as well as be responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing program goals and work plans. The Instructional Designer demonstrates a commitment to creating and promoting inclusive learning environments throughout Century College.
Apply research-based learning theories and instructional methodologies to the re/design, delivery, and evaluation of learning content. Collaborate with faculty to apply best practices.
Promote best practices in user experience (UX) design to create engaging, easy to navigate online learning environments.
Serve as the program's expert resource for faculty in the application of best practices for online course instruction and facilitation to ensure quality engagement and build community.
Collaborate with division and institution to support and further Century College's strategic plan and mission for online learning.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years related experience in instructional design, faculty training, pedagogy, and/or curricular development in a post-secondary educational setting.
Knowledge of educational psychology, adult learning theories, and online teaching best practices.
Knowledge of current techniques, tools and procedures used in the design, development, and evaluation of online and hybrid courses.
Knowledge and application of Web accessibility standards (ADA, Section 508 and WCAG).
Strong ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic organization to proactively solve problems.
Strong project management skills.
Experience working with diverse content and populations.
Master's in instructional design, education, or educational technology.
Four or more years of experience in instructional design, pedagogy, or curricular development in post-secondary educational settings.
Teaching experience, preferably online and in a post-secondary setting.
Application of Quality Matters rubric and experience with QM course certification.
Experience in developing rubrics and assessments for adult learners.
