The Associate Director of Academic Technology and Design will be responsible for the oversight of use of technology and course design needed to deliver our courses.The person in this position will provide guidance and counsel to CCAPS programs in the use of design and technology to meet programmatic goals. The position will supervise the CCAPS Academic Technology and Design (ATD) team and reports to the Director of Academic and Information Technology. This is a full-time, 12-month, annually-renewable academic professional (P&A) appointment.
Operations Management & Supervision 35%
Manage academic technology and design staff including all supervisory responsibilities: hiring, work direction, managing performance and providing recognition, engaging/developing employees, and maintaining a productive and healthy work environment.
Uphold and promote the college’s diversity, equity, and inclusion values and efforts.
Manage budget, including allocating resources and monitoring expenses.
Project, Innovation, & Process Improvement Leadership 35%
Manage Academic Technology and Design project portfolio.
Provide oversight on projects and workflow to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
Facilitate and/or lead process improvement and business analysis projects in collaboration with CCAPS units as requested or determined by AIT Governance.
Coordinate course design and deliverables with faculty, university liaison, media specialists, and support staff, etc.
Ensure that all project tasks and deliverables meet identified timelines and standards.
Identify and communicate project expectations and goals to staff and faculty in a clear and concise manner.
Online Course Development 20%
Design, manage, and facilitate the development of newly created online courses in collaboration with faculty or content author on a course development timeline.
Implement the redesign, revision, conversion, and review of existing online courses according to best practices and shared design principles at the College.
Design solutions to address academic challenges through the use of instructional technology.
Design towards specific course outcomes as well as learner engagement.
Faculty Development 10%
Train and support online instructors in their independent use of course technology and third-party teaching tools
Educate instructors about design principles and best practices in online course design and delivery
Educate faculty on how to build and maintain social presence in online learning environments and online communities.
Support the professional development efforts for instructors and academic staff in their adoption of existing academic technology and emerging tools.
BA/BS in a related field and four years of professional experience.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
Demonstrated expertise in course management systems, instructional design, and online course development.
Minimum two years of work experience in areas related to online course production, curriculum and instructional design, and faculty development.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage multiple projects.
Minimum of two years of experience in creating and leading teams.
Minimum of two years experience managing relationships with other units and outside entities and with project management, including the ability to create and implement work plans.
Master’s degree in a related field or Master’s degree in an unrelated field with four years of related professional experience.
Five years of work and leadership experience in areas related to online course production, curriculum and instructional design.
Two years experience working with instructors and developing teaching methods that foster student-centered learning.
