ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Director is responsible for specific duties which include, but are not limited to, the following: - Program Development: Assume lead responsibility for development, curation and management of engaging and compelling content delivered to SDPA audiences.
- Manage SDPA’s existing in-person and online conferences, course offerings, learning curricula, workshops and other initiatives.
- Manage SDPA’s Diplomate Fellowship program and ensure that the program is meeting and exceeding expected standards.
- Plan and implement new and timely, relevant and impactful and networking-oriented programs aligned with the SDPA strategic plan and departmental strategies.
- Employ creativity and well-honed marketing skills to draft compelling, promotable, sellable products and services.
- Provide high-level support to assigned SDPA volunteer committees charged with course creation and fulfillment.
- Research/Trends: Stay current on the best practices and emerging trends in in-person and virtual adult learning, synchronous and asynchronous learning, learning technology and other relevant areas, implementing innovative techniques to serve the needs of members.
- Speakers: Secure high-profile subject matter experts as program speakers from the medical and business world and beyond who inform, inspire and support SDPA members. Develop innovative, practical training materials and conduct proactive outreach to guide and support speakers throughout the content development process.
- Continuing Medical Education (CME): Manage continuing medical education, content development, application and compliance strategies and processes for in-person and online events.
- Strategy: Contribute meaningfully to strategic planning efforts, conceptualize and implement long-term goals, objectives, and metrics (needs assessment) to ensure successful outcomes in alignment with the SDPA strategic plan and departmental strategies.
- Collaboration: Collaborate cross-departmentally and engage externally with key SDPA leaders, sponsors, allied groups, and other stakeholders to develop, continuously improve and maintain educational content serving SDPA’s mission and strategies.
- Program Operations: Work closely with logistics team, vendors and contractors to ensure effective and on-budget delivery of live and virtual programming.
- Marketing: Support the Marketing Communications team to develop well-tailored marketing plans and communications that provide visibility and ensure the success of programs and events.
- Grant Writing: Support and engage in efforts to identify and secure external grant support for educational activities.
- Project Management: Establish and manage timelines, process documents/playbooks, and other effective organizational tactics; consistently meet deadlines.

EDUCATION - Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in education, professional development, event management, business or marketing.
- An advanced degree in education, instructional design, event management, professional development, business or marketing and/or professional certifications are strongly preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE - This position requires 8+ years of experience (and a passion for) developing, managing and delivering in-person and online professional education, events, preferably in a non-profit medical or healthcare association.
- Familiarity with developing content around continuing education credit requirements is strongly preferred; Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for programming experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding and enthusiastic application of project management principles.
