Lead a team of professionals who support the use of institution-wide, innovative technology that aligns with the mission of the BSD and related strategic initiatives.
Provide leadership and representation for the Universityâ™s financial systems transformation program serving as an advocate for the unique needs of the Biological Sciences Division.
Motivate and lead a high-performance leadership team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the team not currently in place; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.
Ensure data security compliance in coordination with the University's IT Services organization and other data governing bodies.
Enhance data driven decision making by leveraging modern integrated business intelligence platforms in coordination with the University's IT Services organization.
Explore and introduce applicable technology supported improvements including artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to further BSD's mission of research and clinical operations.
For each technology enabled process change or improvement, promote organizational change from readiness assessment through adoption.
Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective strategies, provide consulting and business re-engineering services, and develop enhancements to academic and administrative processes and procedures.
Design, engineer and implement new applications, modifications of existing services relative to changing technology and /or client environments.
Plan and align the activities and services with the strategic direction of the BSD, determining fiscal requirements of managed operations, develop sound processes and procedures, and oversee daily operational activities.
Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the BSD, identify opportunities for improvement and recommend innovative process and technology changes.
Collaborate with the Departments, Faculty, and leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the BSD.
Support the realignment of processes to optimize the use of institutional systems.
Provide change management methodologies and tools, develop recommendations for needed enhancements.
Manages programming staff through subordinates, usually other managers. Establishes performance goals, allocates resources, directs training, and assesses policies for direct subordinates.
Executes functional business plans and contributes to the development of overall programming strategy. Oversees the departmental budget.
Directs the application development life cycle process, including design, programming, debugging, beta general releases, and production support.
Performs other related work as needed.
Bachelorâ™s degree in information technology, business, computer science or related field, an advanced degree in information systems or related.
Minimum of 15 years broad IS leadership experience in a complex, academic, medical or corporate environment.
Minimum of 10 years at a senior management or executive level.
Five yearsâ™ experience managing large scale budgets or funding models.
Five yearsâ™ experience leading and managing successful IT efforts within a higher education setting.
Strong financial acumen, ability to write capital requests and analyze operating reports to identify opportunities.
Critical understanding of IT systems and infrastructure.
Expert knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies and challenges.
Proven experience in making data driven decisions towards achieving an organizationâ™s goals.
The ability to build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, administration and partners.
