The Director, Benefits & Wellness is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, evaluation and communication of the University’s benefits and wellness programs, policies and plans.
Benefits ?Oversee an approximate $30M benefits budget and plan annually on a rolling three year cycle ?Ensure ERISA compliance with all benefit plans and serve as HIPAA Officer ?Conduct benefit plans needs assessments, evaluates existing benefit programs, determines and recommends plans to be offered/changed based on local and national market data, best practices, recruitment/retention data and university resources. ?Implement and manage benefit plans including the development of key metrics. ?Monitor legislative environment for proposed changes in applicable regulations and ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws. ?Provide advice in the development of policies and procedures and communicates such to employees. ?Direct relationships with University insurance brokers and vendors, as well as retirement plan vendors and community partners. ?Oversee employee benefit communications ?Serve as Administrative Liaison to the University Retirement Plan Committee ?Manage the collection and submission of all required employment and benefit data under the Affordable Care Act. ?Oversee university unemployment benefits administration.
Employee Wellness ?Design and implement a comprehensive, data-informed employee wellness program. ?Chairs the University employee wellness committee, collaborating cross-functionally to develop and promote employee health and wellness. ?Assess ROI for current and future health and wellness strategies, presenting data to leadership annually.
Secondary Responsibilities: ?Assist the CHRO in the management of the Human Resources departmental budget ?Serve on committees as requested by the CHRO; ?As a member of the Human Resources team, assist in the planning of employee events, such as the annual Benefits Fair and the University Recognition celebrations; ?Manage special projects as requested by the CHRO. ?Review vendor contracts ?Support contract negotiations with University unions
?Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or closely related discipline ?Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in benefits administration ?Minimum 2 years’ experience managing direct reports and/or in successful project management ?Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) ?Demonstrated quantitative/analytical skills ?Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills ?Personal commitment to excellence, particularly in the areas of data accuracy, customer service, best practices in employment, benefits management, and professional development.
?Strong preference for experience managing benefits functions in a higher education environment ?CEBS, CBP, HRCI and/or SHRM certification strongly preferred ?Ellucian Banner software experience
