Exempt, Professional Prepared Date: February 2021 Position Summary: The Director, Engagement Programs, is a business stakeholder facing position and is responsible for supporting the development, growth and maintenance of the Manufacturing Institute’s women and diversity engagement programming. The Director will be the day-to-day manager of the STEP Women’s Initiative aligning to the direction of the Vice President, Strategic Engagement. Working closely with the VP, the Director develops and implements ideas to solve our workforce challenges while also being focused on executing tasks, ensuring program deliverables are aligned to the overall Institute strategy with the support and guidance of the VP, and that goals are met, while delivering a high-quality experience in partnership with the VP and the entire MI team. A successful candidate will be someone that wants to work on effectively executing the operational components of the MI’s initiatives. You will be joining a team of entrepreneurial problem-solvers focused on implementing and executing programs and collaborations to inspire, educate and empower the manufacturing workforce of today and tomorrow. Day to Day Responsibilities: - Work with the VP to execute and build a robust STEP Women’s Initiative and #MFGWomen’s program and network. The Director will play an essential role in helping develop, deliver, and maintain new women’s focused workforce programs, content and offerings.
- In partnership with the VP, the Director will be a POC for MI’s stakeholders on women engagement and development targeted programming as appropriate on MI initiatives, including:
- Manage and execute the annual STEP Ahead Awards and process, in partnership with the STEP Ahead team, from the nominations and review process through the Awards gala;
- Develop and execute annual plan of STEP Forward events, including grant deliverables;
- Engage directly with STEP Ahead alumnae;
- Develop new materials and assets, including researching, drafting and working with cross-functional teams to create externally facing products;
- Develop a schedule of events to support the expansion of the program to new locations, as well as assist with the delivery of the current programming;
- Create a benchmarking process to identify the best practices of the STEP Ahead Awards and STEP Forward events as currently delivered, and provide regular reporting;
- Identify effective new models of training, policies and practices and incorporating those best practices into existing programs;
- Manage and lead the online communities, including:
- Create and draft new materials, content and events in the women’s engagement space;
- Develop and deliver a schedule of events to support the expansion of the community, and delivery of the current programming;
- Manage the STEP Women’s Program Committee;
- Manage and execute women’s external partnerships and deliverables, in conjunction with the VP;
- Work with the VP to execute Diversity and Inclusion programming and content. The Director will play an essential role in helping develop, deliver, and maintain new D&I focused workforce programs and offerings.
- Prepare and deliver public presentations on the full range of workforce activities sponsored by the Manufacturing Institute.
- Support the VP with project management and individual performance in the following areas:
- Research and drafting of new materials, agenda, speaker guides, invitations, thank you notes, reports and other program communications;
- Managing, planning and organizing events with relevant stakeholder groups;
- Develop and manage project plans, project budgets, reporting schedules and formats, and development and delivery of key deliverables.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university;
- 5-7 years related work experience, including experience and interest in:
- Workforce development
- Familiarity with women’s engagement programming
- Prior association experience preferred;
- Experience with marketing and sales of programs preferred;
- Experienced in project management and implementation;
- Proficiency in Word for Windows, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and familiarity with or ability to learn Web content management applications;
- Must be well organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure and able to manage workload to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, perform multiple tasks using various software applications
- Strong editing and proofreading skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Comfort and proficiency in public speaking;
- Team oriented and customer service focused with the ability to interact regularly with staff, executives, and other stakeholders;
- Willingness to travel.
