Perform and support research relating to identifying the user, their needs, environments, values, and pain points for creation of a use specification.
Perform risk-analysis according to usability standards and guidelines (uFMEA, task analysis/ use-error analysis)
Plan, conduct and analyze research according to usability plans using the appropriate methods (field studies, heuristic evaluations, user testing, focus groups, surveys, etc.).
Write and present effective and compelling findings and recommendations based on research.
Track usability issues throughout the entire product development process and report progress toward meeting usability goals to management.
Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. Augment with additional resources (DBSO, outside resources) where applicable, and improve DBS training and facilitation by pursuing certification in DBS tools for yourself and others while driving the progression of candidates through a DBS Certified Practitioner (CP) funnel to build organization muscle and capability across the domains within DBS.
Education and Experience (in years):
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR
Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience OR
Doctoral degree in field with 3+ years of work experience.
Degree in: Human Factors Engineering (HFE), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Systems Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or related discipline.
Knowledge and skills:
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences
Detail oriented with strong business acumen
Demonstrated effectiveness in working to define, manage, and prioritize work
Proven experience as a HFE or similar role
Strong research and analytical skills, including ability to conduct statistical and qualitative analysis of data
Ability to inspire change and handle conflict ambiguity.
Expert knowledge of worldwide human factors publications, standards, and both cognitive & physical heuristics (IEC 62366, AAMI HE75, FDA Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices)
Strong portfolio of design projects and/ or HFE Writing
