| Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Database Management Programming Analyst for the Department of Medicine – Infectious Diseases within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Director of Research Operations and Principal Investigators, the Database Management Programming Analyst is responsible for off-site study coordination and data management oversight of protocols positioned at international sites, including a major NIH funded research consortium in India. The Analyst will provide study coordination, as it relates to data management of specific protocols – including implementing data capture/management and establishing quality control SOPs, conducting periodic quality assurance monitoring, working with investigators to develop and implement protocols at the international sites. Among the key duties of this position are the following: - Works with investigators and Data Coordinating Center staff to develop REDCap case report forms (CRFs) and databases consistent with the approved protocol to capture clinical and laboratory data.
- Facilitates, coordinates instruments administration, data gathering software and data collection.
- Maintains and manages research databases using Access and SAS software. Works with statisticians in creating the appropriate databases from collected data for analyses.
- Monitors data quality per standard operating procedures for each protocol.
- Develops materials to assist with training of data management staff to maintain electronic data capture system (REDCap), develops CRFs, program validation checks of data.
Minimum Education and Experience: - Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Biomedical Informatics, or related sciences plus one (1) year two (2) years preferred or related biomedical research experience); or Master's Degree in Public Health, Biomedical Informatics with clinical or epidemiologic research database experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Must have a high level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite and data querying tools.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with statistical packages (SAS, R, MS Excel, MS Access, etc.).
- Good understanding of clinical research components – data collection, human subjects protection, quality assurance and control.
- Strong computer knowledge and graphic experience a plus.
- Ability to learn and integrate other related computer applications into existing operations.
- Must have excellent project management, time management, communication, interpersonal, decision making, analytic, and reporting skills.
- Must be able to work with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives on data usage including faculty, staff, and senior administrators, as well as individuals at other institutions and government offices.
- Must be able to travel internationally for extended stays, as determined by project need and availability.
