The Vice President, Litigation is primarily responsible for overseeing, developing and driving litigation strategy with a trial-focused approach, and partnering with the business to identify potential litigation risks and solutions. This position will report directly to the General Counsel and support the company in a wide range of significant litigation matters, including class action matters, government enforcement actions, commercial litigation and pre-litigation, consumer complaints, securities, advertising, and regulatory actions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to drive process and operational improvements, and will be joining a fun, fast-paced and growing legal team working collaboratively together on a range of legal issues.
Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD), historically based in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, is one of the nation’s leading retail pharmacies with approximately 2,500 drugstores across 19 states and pharmacy services through its pharmacy benefits manager (PBM). The company generates approximately $22B in total revenues and is ranked 150 on the 2020 Fortune 500. In August 2019, Heyward Donigan was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to formulate the company’s new strategy focused on further expanding the clinical role of the pharmacist, becoming a leading mid-market PBM, and renewing their retail and digital experience.
A competitive compensation package, consisting of a base salary, bonus and equity, will be offered for this position, consistent with the candidate’s level of experience.
The successful candidate will have:
Juris Doctor (JD) required.
10 plus years of experience in complex litigation, ideally including government enforcement or investigations.
Foundational top tier law firm or governmental training required. In-house litigation counsel experience preferred.
Pharmacy, healthcare, PBM or related experience preferred.
Proven ability to work as an independent member of a team.
Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania or admitted to a State Bar of any U.S. State or the District of Columbia and eligible for reciprocity admission to the PA Bar or a PA Limited In-House Counsel License.
This is a national search. Rite Aid is open to a remote work arrangement with travel as required.
