Cold Hollow Veterinary Service is looking for a full-time large animal practitioner. We are a six veterinarian practice located in northern Vermont. The practice area encompasses northern Vermont; spanning from Lake Champlain, over the Green Mountains, and into the Northeast Kingdom. Equine work entails service for backyard horses, boarding facilities, sport horses and draft animals. Aside from routine seasonal procedures, our veterinarians also have the opportunity to perform tasks such as lameness workups, pre-purchase exams, gastroscopy, radiology, and reproductive services. Most medical emergencies are handled in the field, though referral hospitals are within two hours for most clients. Our practice promotes excellent medical care through continuing education and implementation of new knowledge and techniques. We offer veterinary care to all species of farm animals and believe that is what makes us a strong and integral part of the community. The veterinarians and staff support each other and are wholly dedicated to our mission. This allows us to develop and maintain a highly productive and congenial workplace. Turnover is rare within the staff and veterinarians; we have staff and associates who have been with us for over 10 years. Clientele include both cow and goat dairies, ranging from 10 to 3000 head. We work with large free stall operations, stanchion facilities, organic herds, robotic systems and raw milk producers. We also see beef, small ruminants, camelids, swine and poultry. For the purpose of consistent and high quality emergency work, veterinarians are expected to generate a foundation in all large animal species. However, they are also strongly encouraged to develop an area of expertise according to their interests. Generous benefit package includes individual or family health insurance, disability insurance, AVMA liability insurance, matching fund retirement plan, professional dues, continuing education allowance including travel expenses and time off, 3 weeks paid vacation and a fully equipped practice vehicle with cell phone. The practice area encompasses all of northern Vermont, but is centered around two fully staffed and stocked office hubs. Practice has 5 ultrasound units, an endoscope, digital X-ray, bull breeding soundness equipment, 2 in-house mastitis labs, blood chemistry and hematology analyzers, 2 powerfloats and a mobile hoof trimming chute. |
