Classification Title : IT Manager III Department : Information Technology Services Full-Time/Part-Time : Full-Time Months per Year : 12 Months Position Summary: The Director of Networking, Infrastructure, and Systems (NIS) serves as a member of the ITS leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer. The Director is responsible for the management and administration, security, operations and maintenance of UNC Asheville’s campus data network (internal and external connectivity) and shared central computing resources (multi-platform server environment). This includes day to day management, staff supervision, technical support, security enforcement, needs assessment, systems architecture, budgetary input, new/renovation construction specifications, strategic planning and project management in a complex, integrated Internet-connected computing and networking environment. The employee in this position performs complex IT work related to network, infrastructure, and systems, leads/directs team members in day-to-day operations, and works to meet/establish strategic IT goals and manage projects. The Director is responsible for making high-level decisions that have institution wide impact. Minimum Education/Experience/Skill : Master's degree in a related field and minimum of four years relevant management experience. May also consider a bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant management experience. Preferred Education/Experience/Skill : Master's degree in a related field and 6-10 years of relevant experience in similar or related IT Services management. Experience in higher education is desired. May also consider a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant management experience.
