Program and Administrative Specialist - (2000014J)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Nursing (SON), Office of Research is currently recruiting for a Program and Administrative Specialist . The Program Specialist provides administrative support to the two Organized Research Centers of Excellence within the Office of Research and Scholarship. Supports faculty and students in accomplishing the research mission of the School of Nursing. Works collaboratively with other members of the Office of Research and Scholarship office and faculty, staff, and students. Exhibits accuracy, purpose, and initiative to support this mission.

Performs administrative duties having a significant impact on the overall work related goals, programs, and activities of the two Organized Research Centers.
Develops and edits the meeting minutes, annual reports and as needed center reports, grant/program proposals as well as various promotional materials and journal articles as relevant to the work of the centers.
Develops and maintains databases and uses them and other databases to collect, extract, and analyze data, track expenditures and maintain budgets, as well as to monitor and evaluate program operating policies and procedures and metrics.
Supports the Office of Research and Organized Research Centers by collaborating with the Office of Administrative Services regarding grant related financial materials.
Provides general planning and direction in order to develop and facilitate the day-to-day activities and events for the Organized Research Centers.
Evaluates and makes recommendation for updating policies and procedures for implementing research at the SON.
Interfaces with relevant stakeholders to support the research and scholarship mission of the SON.
Promotes the visibility of the research mission of the SON.
Works closely with the Research Quality Manager regarding regulatory research compliance.
Assists faculty and students with the process of conducting human subjects related research at the SON.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years' experience working in appropriate field. 4 years experience with human subject's research and NIH research grants preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Skill in relevant PC applications (e.g. MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet search capabilities, reference management software).
Willingness to learn and use research and research administration related programs and data bases such as RedCap, Kauli-Research, Digital Measures, budget reporting applications, and PubMed to assist in the research mission.
Skill in exercising initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgement with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
Ability to multitask and prioritize by ongoing, and new projects, necessary to implementing a specific organizational program.
Skill in communicating efficiently and effectively both orally and in writing with a variety of people internal and external to the organization.
Skill in continuously seeking to improve the quality of services and processes.
Knowledge of human-subjects related research requirements and standards, including mandatory record keeping and IRB submission/reporting requirements.
Skill in evaluating budgetary requests, relevance to research project goals, and concurrence with grant standards and regulations.
