Position Overview: The Communications Manager will plan, develop, and implement various communications strategies, initiatives, publications, and public relations for BioMADE internal and external audiences. They will be responsible for designing consistent and effective messaging and branding across all BioMADE communications platforms, including print and digital. The Communications Manager will be responsible for writing, editing, and managing the design of external communications, including publications, websites, social media, and other marketing materials. They will also be responsible for writing internal communications for leadership, faculty, and staff. This position will oversee adherence to branding standards and maintain knowledge of industry trends. The Communications Manager will work collaboratively with BioMADE leadership, administrative directors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Job Duties: Communication Strategy Development and Implementation (50%) Develop a strategic communications and public relations plan to promote BioMADE programs and initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders Implement coordinated and effective communications plan, including print publications, web, video, social media, and outreach Consult with BioMADE leadership regarding communications projects and deadlines as well as initiatives, strategies, and issues resolution. Develop and execute BioMADE public release policies including serving as the point of contact for internal and external public release approval. Advise BioMADE staff on effective communication with BioMADE members, government, and the public Build relationships and establish and maintain communication channels with University, government, clients, and member organizations Collect and report metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and make adjustments to optimize impact
Communication Materials Development (40%) Execute the strategic plan by providing development and production coordination for a wide variety of communication materials Write content and tell compelling stories that show BioMADE’s impact; use these stories in various print materials, website, and social media Manage BioMADE website tone and voice, and ensure content and images are compliant with University branding standards Develop the BioMADE social media content and determine presence; making recommendations for social media strategies Ensure all communications materials are compliant with branding standards and adhere to industry best practices
Public Relations (10%) Coordinate BioMADE publicity efforts Engage with local and national media consistent with the BioMADE’s protocols Attend and host photo sessions for media relations and marketing purposes |
