South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is looking for a knowledgeable, sales oriented, detailed and research driven individual to fill the position of Right of Way Specialist reporting to our Lancaster office.
This position is responsible for negotiating, preparing, and procuring easements for right-of-way, property purchases, and maintain records of such.
Essential Functions:
Prepares easement forms and maps for lands to be crossed or contacted by new lines.
Contacts affected property owners to obtain signed easements for the construction of distribution or transmission facilities.
Negotiates for easements, agreements, and real property on behalf of the Cooperative.
Supports inquiry and research requests by Legal Contractor or Staff.
Ensures proper digital filing of all Cooperative easements.
Supports Field Engineers for preparation and negotiation of Cooperative easement and agreements.
Ensures that all easements, deeds and other legal papers are properly recorded in the proper county.
Maintains complete file of executed transmission and distribution easements.
Researches land title information about each landowner, prior to preparing easements.
Performs services of a Notary Public, in accordance with state laws.
Coordinates with Supervisor, Vegetation Control, regarding tree work for line construction and follows up with crew to see that job is done properly.
Must be able to use mapping and customer information computer systems.
Must be able to perform work and navigate record systems within all areas county recorders offices
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of four years’ experience working in line construction and maintenance or engineering field work required.
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. The qualified candidate must also become a licensed Notary Public within the first six months of employment in this position.
Must maintain a valid drivers’ license and good driving record.
Should possess basic knowledge of the procedure of obtaining and filing easements. Should be familiar with basic real estate transactions.
