Summary: The Senior Director of the Center for Educational Enhancement will advance excellence in educational innovation and will support enhancement of the academic strengths of faculty and students, to include teaching, learning, assessment and evaluation, educational scholarship faculty development, continuing professional development programs and the overall authority for developing and delivering information management library services. CEE focus includes advancing new technologies, building on research and maximizing student outcomes. It enhances learning management platforms, content management, intellectual property and student/faculty/preceptors academic support and professional development. The position will create, manage, and sustain innovative and collaborative programs to support the continued quality improvement of DMU academic programs. The position will empower faculty, staff and students to strive for educational enhancement and academic success and will promote a culture of continued quality improvement, educational innovation in teaching and learning, and innovative curriculum design and delivery. This position develops, implements and assesses the effectiveness of comprehensive programming to support educational enhancement for various stakeholders and DMU constituents, and promotes educational innovation, scholarship and continued improvement. The position has supervisory responsibilities and requires extensive collaborative efforts in programmatic development and implementation, and is also responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing the unit’s collaborative work with the Educational Technology Specialist (ITS) and other campus resources in designing, implementing and sustaining the scope of functions and programming offered by the unit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Leadership of the Center for Educational Enhancement - Under the strategic leadership of the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation and Enhancement, will provide oversight of the Center for Educational Enhancement core functions of student success and engagement, faculty and continued professional development, institutional repository, digital collections and outreach collaborations. Responsible for all essential operations of the Center for Educational Enhancement, including oversight of program design and implementation, educational scholarship, faculty enhancement programming, student support services, modernized library services, continuing professional education and center’s budgetary oversight.
Programmatic Development for Educational Enhancement - Under the strategic leadership of the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation and Enhancement, will support, develop and implement programs enhancing teaching and learning, educational research, instructional design, course delivery and will assess the utility of innovative educational tools and information technology library services. Facilitate educational excellence by developing and implementing comprehensive programming for students, faculty and staff, in collaboration with relevant campus offices (these activities include, but are not limited to, organizing and offering workshops, surveying attendees, and using survey data for continued quality improvement; offering individual consultations; supporting faculty in learning management systems, software, and related tools; and disseminating knowledge regarding advances in instructional design, delivery, and resources). Provide oversight of ongoing, quality continuing education programs to healthcare professionals.
Culture of Educational Innovation and Enhancement - Under the leadership of the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation and Enhancement, this position will promote a culture of educational innovation, enhancement and assessment among its core functions to provide competitive advantage to the institution and its programs and will support and advise the strategic efforts for innovation and enhancement of the DMU academic enterprise.
Educational Scholarship –Support the design and implementation of research and scholarly activities aiming to develop and deploy the scholarship of education, including teaching, learning and assessment.
Inter-professional Education - Under the strategic leadership of the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation and Enhancement, designs and implements inter-professional educational initiatives.
Compliance – Ensure compliance with applicable academic, administrative, budgetary and personnel policies and procedures.
Education Resource Development - Develop and share resources for, and create training sessions for faculty and students, as appropriate, to enhance teaching, learning, assessment, digital accessibility, online course delivery, educational innovation and research.
Collaboration and Communication - Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders for providing student and faculty academic support needs, student academic counseling, and continuing education and appropriately communicate the extent of services provided by the unit. Lead the development of and maintain relationships with college and program leadership to ensure appropriate support for faculty academic needs in teaching, learning, assessment, digital accessibility and educational scholarship. Lead the unit’s collaboration with faculty and staff regarding the implementation of course/instructional design and effective use of learning technologies and learning management systems giving special attention to compliance with accessibility and usability principles.
Serve as an Expert Resource - Provide consultation to Deans, Program Directors, and faculty regarding faculty and student programs provided by the Center for Educational Enhancement, and support efforts at the departmental, program, college or university level in program design for educational improvement and scholarship.
Provide expertise on the latest advances and research related to teaching, learning and assessment; provide a forum for formal and informal exchanges of ideas and expertise; and stimulate, support, and reinforce pedagogies that optimize student learning.
Serve as a resource to the offices of Clinical Affairs/Clinical Education.
Assist faculty in developing curricula that will prepare students to serve diverse patient populations as healthcare professionals.
Encourage the use of integrative and innovative teaching and assessment strategies and technologies.
Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and program directors to integrate best practices related to faculty evaluation mechanisms (both student and peer evaluations).
Faculty Orientation - Organize and implement the New Faculty Orientation program, as well as annual faculty orientation programs for current faculty and clinical preceptors.
Academic Advisors Support - Coordinate training, develop resources and provide expertise for guiding the functions of the academic advisors.
Provide oversight and guidance to special projects or initiatives as determined by the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation and Enhancement. Monitor and follow progress and ensure that appropriate follow-up actions are taken and to ensure timely and effective completion.
Participate in and successfully complete all University required training including, but not limited to discrimination/harassment and code of conduct.
Performs other job-related duties.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has oversight of the following areas: Library Services, Student and Faculty Support Services, and Continuing Professional Education. The CEE Administrative Assistant also reports to this position. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing and/or motivating and/or training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; proposing salary recommendations; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a higher education institution related to teaching, learning, and/or assessment.
Strong collaborative leadership style.
A record of accomplishment in the scholarship of learning, teaching, and assessment.
Demonstrated knowledge of theories, models and best practices in learning, teaching, and assessment.
Proven experience providing leadership and facilitating programs.
Supervisory experience desirable.
