Department OVPR ADMINISTRATION (BL-RUAD-IUBLA) Job Summary The Proposal Development Services (PDS) team is seeking an Associate Research Development Specialist to: - Counsel, direct, and assist faculty/researchers in matters related to the development, preparation, and submission of research proposals across multiple disciplines and content areas.
- Develop and present content for workshops, trainings and outreach.
- Develop and disseminate resources and tools via an on-line portal accessible to IU faculty and researchers, a PDS newsletter, and via other appropriate means.
These services are tailored to the diverse and varying needs of faculty and researchers based on their career stage, experience submitting successful proposals for external funding, availability of school/departmental resources, and the grantsmanship skills, abilities and capacity of the faculty and researchers. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in research and proposal development, including experience with private, state, and/or federal granting agencies and an understanding of grantsmanship. Excellent communication skills including the ability to use language carefully and strategically. Strong attention to detail. Excellent time management, project management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, as well as work collaboratively with other members of the PDS team. Ability to manage an unpredictable and time-sensitive caseload of complex assignments while providing quality service and meeting deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and knowledge of other online cloud-based platforms for collaborative work (or willingness to learn), as well as comfort interacting with others and presenting remotely (such as by Zoom). Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in any discipline and prior experience working with faculty/researchers developing and executing projects. Strong knowledge of spreadsheet development and management. Familiarity with Indiana University's institutional research policies and processes. Working Conditions / Demands Concentration to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to work with close vision for long periods at a computer station. Ability to handle confidential issues.
